The Bungalow West — Restaurant in City of Long Beach

This place is terrible! The only reason I order from here is because it is edible and basically the only place to order breakfast in long beach besides a diner. I have never written a review for a restaurant or any place before, mostly because I am very laid back and I don't like to complain, but this is place consistently yields negative experiences. I usually order eggs or some type of wrap with eggs because it's pretty hard to mess up. Yet, somehow they always manage to make a mistake! Whether it's an ingredient missing, the wrong ingredient added, the eggs cooked the wrong style, etc. It is almost ALWAYS wrong! If I had to guess I would say 95 out of 100 of my orders have been WRONG or just terrible for some reason. Which leads me to today. I decided to order French toast, which I knew would be a mistake being I had it at Salt Air (go there!) last week (delicious!) and I knew mentally I would be comparing it, but I ordered it anyway and set my expectations low. I couldn't have set them low enough! French toast I got wasn't even comparable to McDonald's. It was the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth. I don't think the chef actually knows how to make French toast because they were missing one major ingredient - the eggs!!! How do you make French toast without eggs?! Basically what I received was a tin with slices of bread that looked a little browned on the outside, probably from being thrown in the pan for a few seconds, but without being dipped in the egg first. So forget about it being bad because them it lacked flavor. It was just bread! It had sliced banana on top since I ordered it that way and since it "looked" normal I added the syrup, but when I bit into it I literally spit it out! It was just bread!! Bread with syrup! If you're going to have French toast on your menu, learn how to make it!!!!!!!! The only good thing about bungalow is one of the really nice, attentive servers that seems to be the only person who cares about anything going on there. I don't know her name but she used to work at Paninis and bikinis. The rest of the place is people who don't pay attention to you when you're in there and mess up your order constantly, whether it's the server or the chef. And to boot they're not that friendly so you can't say you go there for that. I wish I ordered this French toast in house today to make my final complaint because I'm never going there again and I honestly, really, wish it would...

Waitress was nice and friendly,though my order for a breakfast sandwich was for sausage and I got break your teeth bacon instead. Received it quickly,in my opinion because of the fact the bacon was so over cooked. And the eggs under cooked. The place looked nice. I can give the benefit of the doubt on the order,being that I asked for both. Doesn't excuse the poorly prepared food. The break your tooth bacon and the undercooked eggs. The waitress was very nice, bilingual, good looking,seem to know what she was doing will give the place...

Came in for a last minute bite after Halloween festivities with my friends and we were greeted with smiles. Wasn’t too thrilled about a peach iced tea but they gladly took it back and replaced it with a different drink of our choosing! Customer service was a big plus not to mention the food was so comforting. I ordered a buffalo chicken quesadilla and it was just too good. Great service, great food, all in a great...
