I've only been here one time, but I look forward to coming back again! Great food, great drink, and a beautiful dining area both indoor and outdoor. I was in town for an event nearby, and my business partner recommended that I come and get some BBQ while in town. I haven't been to Newburgh since the renovations started, so it was interesting to see how it has changed. But that quickly shifted focus to the awesome BBQ I had in store for me.
They have plenty of parking, but that doesn't mean that you won't find the lot packed because this place fills up! But from the moment you walk inside, there's nothing but great service to look forward to. Since I was alone, I sat at the bar, looking to have a good drink, and I did. Anthony was behind the bar, and both his customer service and drinks pour were impressive. Since I hadn't eaten anything before those drinks, I figured I'd have something to eat with them, so I got a chicken quesadilla. Pro tip: get them with all the veggies! If you're the type to have mainly eaten those that are just meat and cheese, their version will change your life!
This was all I needed to know to move forward with my plan to sample all of their BBQ, so I got the feast to go. It was worth EVERY cent! All of the meat was fall off the bone tender. I mean, the BBQ was flawless. In my humble opinion, it could have used a bit of finishing salt, but that's a good problem to have all things considered. You can really take the smoke in every bite. The brisket was super juicy, and the ribs didn't require a knife to cut through them. There was definitely enough food to feed a good 4-6 people, so my lady and I had leftovers for a couple of days. Even then, the meat was super tender. There was not a dry piece of chicken, rib, or brisket to be found.
Wasn't a huge fan of the cornbread, but I'm not the type to judge a BBQ place based on the sides. The BBQ is the star of the show, and theirs shines. The andoille sausages were also delicious, and their back n cheese was 4ich, creamy and cheesy. The prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. You won't leave here hungry for sure! Looking forward to coming back when the weather is warmer, to sit outside and gaze out into the water as I eat. Great food and great service. I highly recommend checking it out if...
Read moreMy girlfriend’s family and I ate here a few nights ago. I was less than impressed for several reasons. For starters…a server didn’t greet us until about 20 minutes after being seated. That’s after asking several random servers walking by us who our server was. It was 95+ degrees outside and we were all pretty parched at that point and would have loved some water. Finally, Diana introduced herself as our server and apologized for the wait. Overall, Diana did a good job as our server once she was identified to tend to us. The food was another story, at least my dish . I ordered the brisket with cheese & broccoli and mac and cheese as my sides. Diana recommended the mac and cheese upon my inquiry and said it was one of their “most popular” sides. When I received my my order it was mashed potatoes instead of the mac & cheese (this was the universe clearly trying to tell me something). I brought this up to Diana who apologized and remedied the situation by swapping out the mashed potatoes for the mac & cheese. I was expecting macaroni with a natural parmesan or cheddar cheese melted on top. This was NOT the case. The mac & cheese was nothing more than Kraft mac and cheese (literally). There was nothing original or unique about it. It was literally the same mac and cheese you get for 26 cents from the grocery store. I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of man made, processed/powdered cheese (gross). Not to mention it was same disgusting, processed cheese drizzled over the broccoli. My brisket was overcooked and even my brother in-law who was sitting next to me said it looked like jerky.
The one good thing about this restaurant is that it is situated on the Hudson River and you have a nice view. Not much going for this place other than that. I will NOT be returning here again and suggest you stay away as well…unless you like chemically enhanced and overcooked food, long waits, and...
Read moreFAT CHANCE I would come back to this restaurant. Below is my experience and your mileage may vary. First the good, the location on the Newburgh waterfront is picturesque with very ample parking and seating inside and out. The wait staff were all attentive and seemed to play a zone defense. Anyone of them that came near you were happy to help. Excellent friendly service 👌. The menu was short and sweet and they touched all of the necessary bases for a rib joint. Even the bathroom was clean. It should be noted that I went for lunch before the piss games usually start. Now the not so good at all... I found the price a little on the high side with a full slab of ribs close to $40. Ouch! After the sticker shock I ordered the brisket Reuben with baked beans 🫘 and my friend got a fried chicken sandwich 🥪 with fries. Things went down hill quickly as when the food arrived. I tried the beans first. The bean were nice and thick and flavorful. They were also FULL of large chunks of giggling fat. I mean every fork had a landmine of nausea inducing waste cubes. It was so off-putting that I gave up and bit into the nice sized Reuben. What the what the! A mouth full of fat again! Not flavorful fat that enhances the sandwich, just fat! The brisket seemed under cooked and not tender. The fat in the meal had not rendered and was so bad that I had to deconstruct the whole thing and get to trimming. A lot of expensive bread was left behind. My friend said that his fries and chicken sandwich was average. He reports that chick Fila or Popeyes have them beat hands down. I had visited this restaurant many years ago when they first opened. I was underwhelmed. I could not remember why I had not been back....
