Blu Pointe — Restaurant in City of Newburgh

I took my son to Blu Pointe on April 21st for his 20th birthday dinner. I had called and made reservations. I specifically requested a window table, as this was my sons first time there. The person on the phone said no problem. When we arrived, there was nobody at the hostess station. We patiently waited. Someone walked up to the station, did not acknowledge us and proceeded to look at something on the computer/reservation list (I am not sure to be honest, but we were not acknowledged). I waited for about 30 seconds. She then looked up and stared at me. No "Hello!, Welcome to Blu Pointe! I apologize for the delay. How may I help you?" NOTHING! I then said, we have reservations for 4 for 7:30pm. She then took us to our table, which was not a window table as requested, We actually had a wall view! I told her that I had specifically asked for a window table when I made the reservations and was told that it was not a problem. She then got very snippy with me. She said, well, we do not have one. I said can we have one with at least a river view. She took us down further. Started to separate 2 tables. I asked which one, she said "Whatever one you want!" I did not want to create a scene as it was my son's birthday and we had a guest with us as well. Later, the same person came to the table and said," It is someone's birthday?" I said, yes, my son's. She then handed him a card and her demeanor was not pleasant. The food was sub par. Not at all what I know Blu Pointe to be. Lobster was overcooked, as was the shrimp for the shrimp cocktail. I called the next day to speak with a manager. I was not able to get through. I left a voicemail. I called the next day. Same thing. I received a call back on the 24th. It was not the manager. I told the lady what my concerns were and that I would appreciate a call from the manager. It is now May 12th and I have yet to receive a phone call to discuss this matter. I have patiently waited. I did not want to leave a negative review. I have tried to speak my concerns to management before leaving a negative review. The service we received from the person seating us, was deplorable. Our server was great though. We had zero complaints with our table service. To say that I am disappointed, is a major understatement! This used to be my favorite restaurant. We spent $300. I will never visit this establishment again. I would be okay if I had just received an apology from management. Is it that hard to make a phone call...

My wife and I were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary and I wanted to surprise her with a different place and landed upon Blu Pointe seeing it on Instagram, so I made an 8pm reservation over the phone the morning of. I asked to be seated by the window but the hostess said it's against restaurant policy to hold specific areas of the restaurant, so I said it was fine. We arrived and checked in only to wait about 15 minutes to be seated either because the one hostess wasn't seating people quick enough or they were short because they were on the tail end of the night. Once we got to our table, our waiter was professional and courteous and welcomed us as it was our first time. He asked what type of water we wanted. I said Tap; as he returns with the water, I noticed the glassware was dirty and had smudge marks on the glass. I stopped him and showed him. He was a little taken back and got us new glasses. He took our drink and appetizer order which came to our table rather quick and might I add was really tasty. He took our food orders and shortly came back to say that he was being pulled from the floor and we had a new waitress and gave us the name. We finished our appetizers and first set of drinks, order another round and were waiting and waiting for a while. The time was 9:30pm and was wondering where our food was, so we flagged a bus boy down and asked him for our new waitress who comes over to ask if we need to place our order. We told her we did already with the first waiter and we've been waiting for a while, she said she would go check on it; we mentioned we didn't get our second set of drinks and said she'd check on those too. I was livid but not trying to cause a scene because it was late and my mood was already soured for waiting this long. We finally got our food which again tasted great but waiting for it changed my mind. Once we finished, we ordered dessert and eventually got the bill. I was going to ask her if she could have taken the dessert off the bill but I think either she was new or clearly she dropped the ball when she picked up our table, so I didn't want to frazzle her, my wife said to let it go.

I do want to add that a family of 4 were seated after us, they got their dinner entrees before us and was leaving while we were eating which didn't make sense to me.

In conclusion, the food and drinks were great, service not so much and I hope management can correct this so I can give me 5 stars...

My husband & I came here for dinner this evening, we were VERY pleased w/this restaurant, he asked me when was I going to take him for a a nice seafood meal, we recently moved to New Windsor so I had no idea where to go, I looked up seafood restaurants in New Windsor, Blu Pointe came up in the search. After reading A LOT of the reviews, some good, some no so good, I decided to take him here, I wanted to see for myself what this place was about, well, let me say again, we were VERY pleased, you definitely need to make a reservation, we were greeted by the hostess, she said our table would be ready in 5 minutes, & it was, another hostess came over & asked if we wanted bottled water or regular water & introduced us to our server Chris; unlike a lot of the reviews about the hostesses not being engaged, well, maybe it was an off day, so we ordered our appetizers, my husband had the calamari & lobstercargot, WOW, both were FANTASTIC, my husband is a Chef himself so he is SUPER critical about the food he eats when we go out; he was QUITE impressed with the calamari, if it is not cooked correctly it can be be chewy, this however was PERFECT, the lobstercargot was also FANTASTIC, he ordered the colossal shrimp & lobster mac 'n' cheese for dinner, I had the collosal shrimp cocktail for my appetizer, scallops & grilled asparagus, the waiter suggested since both of ordered the lobster mac 'n' cheese as a side it probably would be better & more cost effective just to order it as another entree that we could share, well, that was a BRILLIANT idea, the portions are just right, the scallops were perfect, the corn & avocado was delicious, I'm not a fan of avocado, but it did not over power the dish, my husband raved about the calamari throughout dinner, we sat RIGHT on the rail outside, WHAT A GORGEOUS sight to see, WE were SO pleased that we came, we definitely we be back very soon, oh yes, I mustn't forget to mention the bread & eggplant jam, what a bright flavor combo to start a wonderful meal, again, yes come here for a VERY nice dinner, wonderful atmosphere, & great people serving you, I would recommend BLU...
