April 2025 - I wanted to update this review. After taking a break from Roman Cafe for a while we started ordering for takeout again. After about 15 visits I can say we have had wonderful service and great food. I'm changing my review to 5 stars to reflect this.
We started to frequent Roman Cafe when restaurants just started reopening after covid and their patio was open. We enjoyed the food and returned many times to dine inside. The last 2 years we mainly have ordered for takeout. The past couple months we have been enjoying the food less and less. The pizza isn't good like it used to be. When requesting extra crispy wings they are not cooked well let alone extra crispy. One of our guests ordered the lasagna and said it was dry and he couldn't finish it. The spaghetti has come out watery and more like a soup than a pasta dish, although the sauce does taste very good. And unfortunately the chicken fingers are basic store bought frozen ones. There are several restaurants in the area that make house made fingers, they turn out 100% better for minimal extra work. The curly fries do seem to be house made, and with 5 minutes in the air fryer at home they get less soggy are really pretty good. Our biggest complaint is when the gentleman answers the phone, we feel as if we are bothering him that we called to order. If the same gentleman is at the counter when we come in to pick up, we receive the same poor attitude from him in person. The Roman Cafe menu has been moved further back in our takeout menu folder. Perhaps we will try again after a while and see if things improve more like...
Read moreI had a good feeling about this place, just moved here from the Falls, I’ve had a lot of Italian over the years. When you want authentic and good food, certain places you can feel that. This is one of those places, it’s got a beautiful water statue in the front and a really cozy feel. Inside is even more cozy, the decor is interesting with handmade cork mirrors.
Prices are fair and the portions are generous. The misses got the shrimp scampi, now you may say you’ve had it all. This one isn’t the usual, their is a lot of attention to detail. It’s fresh, flavorful, and everything is perfectly cooked.
Now mine was a surprise, I’ve never thought of bbq at an Italian restaurant, you know that’s like unique. Let me tell you it was some stand alone really good bbq. Generous portion of ribs, a huge piece of chicken, a good amount of pulled pork. All it perfectly cooked and delicious, the surprise beyond the choice was the cornbread. I’ve had all kinds of cornbread, this was top tier, soft, buttery, can’t get enough of this cornbread.
If you are looking for a nice date, or a treat for yourself, this is the place to go, you won’t be disappointed. The staff is super friendly and give you...
Read moreCame in for a small bite to eat for lunch. Our server gave us a booth (one of four total). Never told us her name. The menu didn't have their options for drinks so we had to ask the waitress, she then rattled off a rather long list of sodas, teas, and such. Any questions about items, she would look at our menu as well, possibly a new hire? We ended up ordering the chicken tender 5 and fries, it took about 15-20 minutes before we got our plate. The chicken tenders were a really good length, however they were on the thin side. The breading on the chicken had a good amount of crunch to it, however it ended up not so crispy. It was really juicy so that was fine. The fries that came with it were unsalted (not an issue, just putting it out there) and the celery was on the thin side. We got fried dough for a desert, powdered sugar and cinnamon to try both. They came out really hot and tasted good.
The food was good, the wait wasn't too long. The portion size was on the large side. Food is really cheap if you dont mind sharing, could get up there in price for...
