Tried Sticky Face out of curiosity. I have my regular go-to places, I thought maybe I could add another. I don't feel confident that I would return. Nothing about it blew me away. The restaurant was very clean, but smelled like air fresheners, which were plugged in all over the place. It should smell like food, not glade. The owner asked if we wanted music or the game on tv, which was nice, but it was odd that it was dead quiet in there when I walked in. The server we had was also friendly.
The food was nothing special, I've made better at home. I ordered the pulled pork, macaroni & cheese, and sweet potato fries. The person I was with ordered pulled pork, fries and applesauce. They also served cornbread. The pulled pork was loaded with fat and lacked a smokey taste, the BBQ tasted mostly like ketchup, but the bun was toasted well and didn't seem cheap, which was a relief. The macaroni & cheese was watery and had absolutely no flavor, I tried doctoring with salt and pepper and it was still bland. The sweet potato fries were okay, but overdone, tasted more like fryer oil than sweet potato. The corn bread was flavorless, tasted like straight flower. The regular fries were good, not a cheap fry, so that was a bonus. The applesauce was served hot with big chunks of apple, it would have been nice to know that it wasn't cold applesauce.
No real brewed sweet tea, the decor was a mix of basement finds, inspirational quotes, giraffe pictures, music theme, clocks on every wall that don't work, this place lacks everything a BBQ joint should have and has absolutely no identity. I get the impression they filled it to fill it, with no real mind to a...
Read moreOk so take into account that i ordered my food today the minute they opened i was really in the mood for bbq. I ordered the bbq combo which has pulled pork, brisket, chicken thighs and a spare rib with 2 sides(i got baked beans and collard greens). Im usually skeptical about bbq because it is hands down my favorite food to eat but as i sit here chowing down on my meal i can honestly say the meats do deliver but the sides are lacking. Beans are ok but they are room temp (could be because i ordered the minute they opened so i wont hold that against them). Collard greens for sure could use some seasoning to bring them to life. Would i order again ? Yes, simply because i would like to try the food again when the kitchen equipment is not just started up for the day. Compared to other bbq in the area sticky face so far has my recommendation now that smoke on the water is closed for the NT area. Happy to see they are using real meats unlike J&L bbq that place was like eating dog food from a can. Also sticky face employees were very friendly this morning as we chatted for a few while i waited for my order. Keep it up guys but seasoning is very important on these...
Read moreWe decided to stop in today, and give Sticky Face BBQ a try after we walked by yesterday, and smelled the delicious fragrance of bbq outside. I promise, you will not regret trying their food. Everything was absolutely delicious. By far, the best of the best sweet potato fries on the planet. The brisket was perfect, the thickness, the bark, the bbq sauce- for sure the best brisket sandwich I've had. The Mac and cheese was also on point, and seasoned differently than any other Mac I've had. They have Pepsi products (thank goodness.) They also have high chairs and booster seats for the munchkins, coloring pages, kiddie cups, and a kids menu. Our waitress was great, she was super nice, and made sure to check on us, she also took time to let our one year old pick a toy from a basket- and even showed her how to play with her popper. They have definitely impressed me, and have found new regulars. I definitely recommend 10/10. Can't wait to go back and try...
