UPDATE: We returned to The Rooftop Lounge and are so happy to amend our initial reactions. We were greeted warmly and professionally at the door and given a lovely table with a beautiful view of the water. Our server was charming and, while attentive, she didn't hover or interrupt our conversation. The wine selection pleased us greatly and we were given generous pours. We had some delicious small plates, including a shrimp cocktail that was served perfectly chilled with simple, spicy cocktail sauce. We're delighted to have this welcoming and lovely lounge in our city and we look forward to our next visit. Thank you to all the staff from some very satisfied guests. Our first visit... We booked a table many weeks into the soft opening, but the staff was still struggling to provide polished service. The waiter was well-meaning and friendly, but interrupted our conversation - continuously asking if we needed anything, despite the fact that we did not attempt to signal him once we were served. A wine glass with at least an inch of wine still in it was whisked away before we could stop him and the sparkling rose was served barely cool. The menu is small and would benefit from a light protein addition, such as a simple shrimp cocktail. We were taken aback by the inclusion of ketchup alongside the truffle fries. Some customers may request it, but please don’t serve it routinely. The charcuterie board could be elevated with a Spanish tapas approach- olives and Marcona almonds perhaps? We loved the setting - seeing the lights of Oswego- and we have high hopes that management will take more time to train the staff, including the sweet, but very young hostess at the lower level door. Marketed as a high-end venue, we expect a certain level of expertise. We hope our review will be taken as it is intended- we truly want to be regular patrons. With training of their pleasant and seemingly willing staff and some minor changes to the menu, this would be an...
Read moreSo glad we decided to try this place. An impromptu early dinner date turned into a beautiful experience. We showed up early on a weekday with no reservations and was lucky enough to still grab a seat outside. I love that this place is just small plates and really great drinks. I'm always a fan of trying lots of things when I go out because I just love food so a few small plates to share was perfect. We tried the filet with risotto, the burnt ends, and the duel of tacos. Everything was delicious, perfect cooked, and well plated. The drink menu was absolutely fantastic with lots of options. I decided to start with the whiskey flight, it had a great range of flavors and nice smokey sweet contrast between the different whiskeys offered. Between the small plates we enjoyed and the whiskey flights it was a great combination of different flavor profiles. Then came dessert, wow! We indulged and got the tiramisu and the turtle ice cream cake. Both were delicious but, the ice cream cake from man on the moon candies was absolutely amazing. It was creamy, well balanced with different textures and flavors, it was so decadent. (We even adventured across the street and bought some goodies from the candy shop before heading home.) With dessert I enjoyed the pecan old-fashioned, it was a perfect sweet after dinner drink that complemented the desserts we ordered. In all the service was great, the meal was beautiful, well balanced, and clean. The best part while enjoying our dinner and the view surrounding us a Bald Eagle 🦅 flew by! So in all we couldn't of asked for a...
Read moreThe Rooftop Lounge is what some would concider a upscale cocktail lounge and I can deffinatly agree with that. That being said, it really has a great atmosphere and a great cocktail menue. On this trip I had the Italian board and burnt ends. I was told upon ordering the board it generally serves 3 to 4 people, and I can definitely see that being true, for the price of $30 it really was worth every penny. It had a great balance of meat and cheeses along with some delicious spreads, a great apricot jam and some stone ground mustard. It was also served with Honeydew wrapped in prosciutto amd grapes witch really helped the flavors come together. Now the burnt ends, not many places get them right or have a good balance of flavors on the plate. The burnt ends themselves were crisp and had just a hint of smoke while the blackberry jam it was server with was sweet and spicy and the flavors combined into an amazing starter. For $8 you really couldn't go wrong with the burnt ends. All and all between the atmosphere and the food it's a great little spot to grab some tasty food and a few drinks as you watch the sunset over the water. I really have to give a round of applause to Lindze who was working bar and doing a great job staying on top...
