Katery To Go — Restaurant in City of Port Jervis

So glad we found Katery today! We had our dog with us so we were walking around looking for a place with tables outside. We were looking at the menu in the window and a boy opened the door and gave us a menu and a smile! Then another boy came out with water for the dog. We decided to stay because of the warm welcome and the menu had nice choices. I went inside to order. Tiny place- just the counter for ordering- and the kitchen was open, busy and clean. A pleasant woman took our order and recommended the wedge fries. BEST fries Ive ever eaten (and im 62 so that’s a lot of fries). I was told to take a seat outside and they would bring it out. We didn’t have to wait long before three smiling servers brought out my husband’s falafel gyros and my hummus salad with an amazing lemon dressing. Fresh fresh fresh!! A lovely girl Megan came out to check on us. Just a really great experience all around. Since my name is Karen i HAD to speak with the owner (lol) Kate who was busy cooking. I thanked her for own of the better lunch experiences we’ve had ! Her two boys were the ones who greeted us- a family affair. We live an hour and a half away but we will be back! Wish they were closer we’d be there all the time! Thanks Kate and your wonderful boys and staff! (Sorry four stars for atmosphere- you can’t help the size! But very clean!!)

July 21, 2024. We've been back two more times since this review. We live nowhere near Katery's (Summit, NJ) but if we're within an hour of there we swing by. That's because it's one of the best places we've ever eaten at - and I've lived in California, Massachusetts and various parts of NJ and worked in Manhattan. Kate's son said the difference is they create their meals with love. That must be it! Fresh, creative and delicious. I have no idea why other places aren't like this... but happy Katery's is and that we found this special jewel. The food and the staff are the best! (tried uploading photos but having difficulty.) Salmon fish tacos we had for lunch today are the best I've ever had. Potato wedges?...

Your local I-Never-Leave-Reviews- friend here! It’s SUCH a blessing to have a spot like this in the area. One that makes food with integrity, well balanced meals and well sourced ingredients. And with so much heart. I’ve only ordered a few times but the more I focus on eating meals that are all around better for me, the more I appreciate Katery To Go. The food has been well packaged/prepared/seasoned every time, and it feels good to know you’re truly getting a healthy meal in- you feel GOOD about what you’re eating.

Katery to Go is perfect for the busy parent, the dejected line cook who doesn’t want to cook for themselves but knows better than to eat frozen/processed junk; the person who wants a GOOD meal they don’t have to feel bad about. After being in the restaurant industry you learn pretty quickly how to tell when your food was made with care or not- this isn’t the local restaurant that can’t keep staff or maintain consistency. This is food you can trust. As a lazy 20-something who’s learning to make better choices, having Katery to Go around the corner is invaluable.

I hope for both my sake and the owners’ that this establishment only...

We stopped here on our road trip with our kids over spring break. This is not a dine-in establishment but there are a few tables outside the storefront. After placing our order the employee told us she would bring the food to our car. All the food we ate was delicious! The time it took to make the food had the illusion of being a tad slow, but it’s because it’s made fresh and we were waiting in the car (just feels like it since you’re not sitting down inside the establishment). I had pasta with peppers and Italian sausage. The sausage tasted fresh or homemade. It was great! We loved the pretzels with cinnamon sugar butter, and the salmon dish of the day. The mozzarella sticks our kids shared were perfect! Our daughter also loved the bread rolls that came with our meals. I recommend if you’re wanting to try a local business...
