That’s how fish & chips should be done! Light, seasoned batter, fresh flakey fish, good sized portions at a value price. I have a Caribbean & Bronx NY background and know fried fish. Since I live near P.Jervis I’ve tried various restaurants and do not like the common local way here of fish fried in a heavy, tempura like batter where the fish can fall right out of it’s bland (barely a dash of salt), oil soaked coating. -It’s disappointing when you want that fish & chip itch satisfied. Thus far this is the best spot to scratch that fish itch. I ordered take out, then remembered you MUST eat fried fish+fries immediately or it will lose its crispy goodness by the time you get elsewhere. It’s a pleasant little spot to eat and listen/watch some throw back R&B videos on the overhead flatscreen. Limited space, a few booths, so if they’re taken just enjoy in your car. It’s a new spot, so humble any high expectations beyond what I mentioned. Port Jervis needs places like this for good takeout variety other than the usual pizza, Chinese food, & Ben’s Fresh kind of takeout places. Enjoy!

I must say I was pleasantly surprised! Me like many were skeptical about whether or not the food would be good…let me tell you it is! I ordered a whiting sandwich which wasn’t the greatest (it wasn’t fried hard enough to my liking making it mushy when you bite into it…and it had no flavor) so I popped it in the air fryer and it was delicious! The Mac n Cheese was SLAMMING! I am always side-eyeing restaurant Mac n cheese, but babyyyyy this Mac n cheese had me humming (you know it’s good when you start to hum) 😂 Let’s not forget them greens….lawd they talk to ya! #IYKYK My only take away would be for the togo fish sandwiches that they keep the bread wrapped separately…the steam from the fish softens the bread. Can’t speak to the customer experience or the atmosphere as I ordered door dash, I will definitely stop in for my next order.

As we were passing through the area we stopped for dinner as my husband was in the mood for some fish and chips. The staff/owners were friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. The food was really good and the portions were definitely decent-sized. Thumbs up for the cod which was seasoned and fried up perfectly, the collard greens which had the right amount of tang, and Mac and cheese made with real cheese and not a fake cheese sauce. I love that they offer malt vinegar and it isn't something they look at you funny for asking for. The atmosphere is a little basic but good people and good food make that a non issue.

First of all, like many I was skeptical about a fish and chips place in port jervis but let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The food was beyond amazing, so much so I came back with my husband that evening for more. Although the food was great and the hospitality was exceptional, I’m doing this review because of the level of integrity and humanity I witnessed while dining. The owner came out to greet us on his way out as we wanted to compliment him and as he walked out he stopped to speak to a homeless woman that had been idling in front of the store. He could’ve walked past her but instead, he stopped and asked if she was hungry and what she wanted. You could visibly see the gratitude on her face as he yelled back inside to the young lady in the front to get her a fish sandwich and a drink. This touched us so much as it wasn’t about a buck in that moment but simple human decency. Come eat at Port Jervis Fish and Chips, not just because the food is great but so are the people!! This is what we need more of around here. Kudos to you PJFC!! We...

I recently had the pleasure of ordering from Port Jervis Fish N Chips, and let me just say, they are the real deal! The owners were incredible and made me feel right at home! I ordered the catfish, mac and cheese, and collard greens, and every bite was a treat. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and fried to a crisp, yet still tender inside. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and had the perfect cheesy bite. And the collard greens—wow! They were flavorful, seasoned just right, and cooked to perfection.

To top it off, I had the carrot cake for dessert, and it took me back to memories of Lloyd’s Carrot Cake in the Bronx—it was that good! Moist, flavorful, and with just the right amount of sweetness, it was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal.

The portions were generous, and the service was friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for top-notch comfort food that hits the spot, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back!

P.s. I usually take photos but I was too hungry and got right...
