5/20 A taste of France in Newburgh! This wonderful bakery makes authentic French style baked goods including some of the best croissants, baguettes, and macaroons you will ever have! No kidding: baked goods are of the highest quality and they even deliver, free, to New Windsor. I highly recommend Newburgh Flour Shop. They make a rye baguette that goes really well with ham and cheese; soft pretzels to dip in your favorite sauce; and focaccia with various toppings that reheat beautifully. Newburgh is very lucky to have a bakery like the Newburgh Flour Shop.
10/31/20: Newburgh Flour Shop is still amazing! Got a pear tart that is extraordinary, and the unsliced rye and sourdough breads are the best! Chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies are way above average. I have been using the poppy seed rolls for my cheeseburgers and the various scones as a breakfast treat with peanut butter. Whatever you get from Newburgh Flour Shop will make your life better. I promise!
12/31/20: Got one, last delivery order from Newburgh Flour Shop. Wanted a "sweet" New Year's and will definitely have one. The pastries are magnificent, like you would get in San Francisco or New York City! The rye bread is not too dense but still chewy with a nice crust and comes in a gigantic, unsliced loaf. Cranberry scones are so tasty, and the poppy seed rolls make the best burgers. Happy New Year Newburgh Flour Shop and thanks for a taste of France in good old...
Read more2/1/22My wedding coordinator recommended Newburgh Flour Shop to me to do a cookie platter for my wedding because she has personally had good experiences. When they did answer my emails, they were very nice and informative but they repeatedly said they didn't have pricing and they will get the pricing for me. A few days went by and they emailed me saying they are still waiting to hear back from the head baker for pricing. It has been almost 3 weeks since they told me that and I haven't heard from them since. I've had to resort to booking another baker for something as simple as a cookie platter when I wanted to give a local bakery my business. If they couldn't do a cookie platter, I would have more than understood, but leaving me hanging and waiting around was not the approach. Not a good experience UPDATE 2/2/22: They did email me back last night (not sure if they saw this review and it reminded them) but they were still very nice and informative and got me the pricing I was looking for. Very pricey. I would love to still give them a second chance in the future, but this experience has definitely left me with a bad taste. Especially for something as big as a wedding which is on a strict timeline and would give great exposure for a small business, this shouldn't have taken 3 weeks to get pricing. Again, still very nice and knowledgable people. I guess I just got them...
Read moredisclaimer: this is more of a 3.5 star kinda establishment for me.
after much research and recommendation, i stopped in to get breakfast and treats. the space is bright and airy, smelled of baked goods. ordering was easy and i picked up the following:
-bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich: came with a tomato jam on a poppy seed bun. i had high expectations based on the reviews i've read ("best BEC they've ever had") and i was underwhelmed. it tastes like just how any BEC would taste, with the addition of tomato jam. it tasted fine but not mind-blowing as i'd hoped.
-coffee cake: cute (read: dainty) presentation but the coffee cake itself was very dry.
-earl grey tiramisu: beautiful presentation, the tiramisu had a thin, white chocolate shell and when you break into it, it had a light mousse and moist cake. the sweetness was just right too. this was the better option out of the two sweet items i picked up.
i had really high expectations of this place and i felt that it failed to deliver. it was good, but definitely wasn't mind-blowing or life-changing. it was a little on the pricey side too. ok to try out but that's...
