Goodnight Kenny — Restaurant in City of Poughkeepsie

So this review has been a long time coming.

To start off with, this is absolutely the best bar in Poughkeepsie if you’re looking for a post-undergrad crowd / grad school crowd and above. Educated people looking educated conversation. Hallelujah!

Super clean whenever I go - I love the art deco style decor and dark green paint. The disco ball in the back is a nice little cherry on top.

You walk in and immediately know you’ve made the right decision by avoiding Mahoney’s. The Derby is the same story. You know you can do better, and tonight, you did. Your conscience and your friends will thank you.

Every staff member and bartender I’ve spoken to here have been very kind.

My biggest issue would be how small the place is, but of course I’m not asking anybody to go bulldoze down some load bearing walls for my sake!

The crowd here from my experience is usually very nice and very aware of bar etiquette, which I love - people here will always give you an “excuse me” and “please” versus shoving by at other bars down the street. A++

Music choices here are 100% millennialcore and I love them for that. 2006-2015 always has a place at Goodnight Kenny. They also have a pretty heavy rotation of 70’s-80’s, which is great regardless of the day of the week.

As a career Bartender I have never been more disrespected in my life. I don’t know how your bar is because security guards would not let me in. They said it’s because I didn’t have ID but they let my other friend in without ID. So for some reason I was discriminated on and mind you I’m 41 years old. I figured I wouldn’t spoil my friends time so I would wait outside while they grabbed a drink. Then they came out and had me get up so they could take all the outside seating inside.
