Unfortunately, being a local I will not be returning to this establishment. A round of shots were asked for the table to celebrate a birthday. Expecting a shot glass of "top shelf" tequila, to our disappointment the shots were diluted with water. When bringing it up to the waitress/ bartender, in a respectable manner, she brought it upon herself to be rude, demanding she will not be ridiculed. Confused about her overall reaction, she further explains with her finger where she had filled the Shaker of tequila and ice all while with an attitude and stating that I was not a regular customer. Having to explain that our table wanted plain ole neat shots of tequila, the waitress/bartender had already caused enough attention with such a dramatic outburst, customers around were also taken back from her output. Assuming to be an employee off the clock sitting at the bar, he had to reassure my approach on the complaint was fair. Probably to defuse any further aggressions from the waitress/ bartender. Regular or not, hospitality is all the same...
Read moreAn underrated local bar that exceeds expectations and builds an atmosphere of belonging. I've been away from NY state for 6+ years, and what I have craved the most is a local bar with a cozy atmosphere. Not somewhere to escape from the monotony of daily but somewhere that adds to your enjoyment of living in the local area. My favorite meal was the french onion soup but the mac and cheese and pulled pork was great as well. JD's has the best aspects of a local bar that I wish I could find in other places around the country: warm seating area, great food, and staff that knows and cares about regular customers and their families. I will absolutely be visiting again when I come back to the Poughkeepsie area. I highly encourage others to visit and experience a bar that is not just located in but a part of...
Read moreMy two friends and I were just refused service for having out of state IDs. We are all in our thirties. Waiter claimed it was the owner’s policy to keep out underaged people from the nearby college. Is that even legal? The place was half empty, why would you refuse service to people who are clearly adults? We pushed back, and the waiter went back to check with someone and came back and restated their policy. We asked if they would refuse us service if we brought in our passports. She seemed unsure (probably because this policy makes no sense)… Part of me wants to try, and part of me has no interest...
