Both the permanent collection and temporary exhibits deserve a heart-felt "Wow." Excellent representative pieces from modern art history luminaries (Picasso, O'Keefe, Munch, Pollock, and many more); very interesting and rarely seen historical pieces (like the finest and most detailed Dürer etchings I've ever seen in person); recent "art activism" works that challenge and inform; and docents who educated me with interesting historical narratives I hadn't heard before -- and I have studied art history for many years.
I could go on, but if you love art you just need to go there -- and I recommend budgeting twice the time you normally would. This is a precious gem...
Read moreMy partner and I came here on a whim for her birthday the other day. The curators of this museum have done a fantastic job. I was shocked by how many wildly famous and lesser known (but incredibly talented) artists were displayed here. They have two Mark Rothkos that we sat and looked at for at least 20 minutes each. Unbelievable. One of the staff Kim was lovely and had so many fun facts for us. I hope they expand their photo gallery upstairs because the stuff they have already is amazing. Cannot wait to come back and see the sculpture garden when it stops...
Read moreDominic, the docent, made our visit so very memorable! He was so kind, supportive, and willing to teach my four and six year old boys literally around every corner. I learned so much from him and will remember this afternoon and how he touched our family for years to come. This museum has a beautiful selection of a wide range of historic and modern pieces from around the world. It is also free and on a gorgeous campus with pretty accessible street parking.
