Uhh, so we went here for the first time and when we walked in, it felt like we interrupted something strange. There were like 6 people in there, standing still, silently, no smiles, and the workers behind the counter were staring at us because when you walk in youâre kind of instantly in front of the counter. One of them locked eyes with me and said âI can take whoeverâs nextâ. The other customers were just staring and not saying anything while we were just trying to look around and take it in before ordering, but then she said it again, still looking right at meâŠso we awkwardly approach the display and she says âDo you know what you want?â I ask if they do egg and cheese, and she says they sold out (it was about 9:30, they open at 8). So then I ask âis this everything that you have?â and point at the 3 different pastries in the case. She says yes. No explanation of what they are, a recommendation, enthusiasm, just âyesâ ânoâ âis that itâ. Oookay, we get a danish and a scone. We pay and leave with the room still silent and look at each other like ââŠWhat the heck was that?â Maybe we arrived at just the wrong time but the vibe was WEIRD. The pastries were okay but didnât really have any...
Read moreThey have the best butter croissant in townâperhaps even the best in New York state! Iâve traveled all over the state and even to NYC, trying croissants from various bakeries, but none compare to what they make here.
The croissantâs interior is delightfully dense, likely due to the multiple layers of butter and dough. It also has a subtle hint of sweetness that adds to its perfection.
My only feedback is that it was a completely cold when I had it, though still fresh. Iâm guessing the chilly winter air might cause it to cool down quickly. Personally, Iâd prefer it to be warm from the oven, but Iâm looking forward to the summer when itâll be warmer outsideâor I could always heat it up in the oven for a quick fix!
One more thing: it is a bit on the pricier side for Rochester, but given the quality and the amount of butter that goes into it, itâs definitely...
Read moreIgnore the whiners who complain the bakery sells outâit is the highest compliment to be so popular and favored that your goods are gone before the end of a business day. Got there right before they opened to a sizable lineâtip* go early!âbut the line moves swiftly. Very friendly and helpful staff and cute vintage decor. The pastries were gorgeous in the case and even more beautiful in my mouth. The breakfast croissants sold out right before me so I will definitely have to be back. We got a variety of plain and chocolate croissants, tomato-ricotta pastry, coffee cake, and scone and everything was delicious. Perfect, delectable, flakey layers with the most wonderful taste to the pastry. Definitely worth an early morning visit to snag these...
