This place is the worst chinese food I have had in a long time. I paid almost 50 bucks for my food and it wasn't worth it. From the bottom of my heart I wish i couldve gotten my money back or send the food back to the restaraunt. The food was tasteless and very bland my phat Thai was dry and flavorless as well. I ordered the chicken phat Thai and it had no chicken in it. We also ordered the pork egg rolls which had no pork in it. They were over cooked and very greasy. I ordered the teriakyi beef and it barely had any beef on it. It was just a couple pieces of meat there. The hostess was very very very rude and she needs to take a customer service class because her customer service sucks ass. My lo me in was very watery and runny even after i told the cook I don't like my sauce runny. The kitchen wasn't very clean looking with food and veggies and noodles just sitting out in big bowls like they have been sitting there since they opened at 11am. I usually never write reviews but this place is the worst chinese food. This is the worst customer service that I have ever had. The woman is so rude and this place should be shut down for their customer service and good quality which is terrible I wanted to serve my food to my dog but I paid to much for the food. Portions are very small. I just don't see how people can give this place 4 or 5 stars when I honestly think it is a 0 star restaraunt. The China wok on geneseee st is way better than this place. I'm just so mad and dissappointed by the food and customer service. It was a waste of my 50 dollars. It is so disappointing that you pay your hard working money for this terrible slack food. If anyone reads this review stay away from this place and safe yourself the hype and the disappointment. They should be reported to the BBb for their terrible customer service and they're small proportion and very bland ass goood. I'm...
Read moreTo other reviewers - Yall need to stop hyping up these places. Food was OK. You can call it "authentic". The flavor and cook was just not there for me. But first let's start with the actual establishment..feels very hole in the wall-ish. Cluttered, cramped, cold, tight seating.
Had the pig ears after being sold on them as "crispy".. Hard no, they were gelatinous, soggy and served at like room temp.. Which when you have something that fatty just feels like greasy pork. The flavor was underwhelming, raw garlic, pepper, and big leaves of cilantro.
The steamed dumplings were also lacking flavor, crudely wrapped and for 6 bucks they were tini tiny, like 1/2tablespoons of pork. I was thinking of those juicy dumplings with broth inside.
The lemon grass chicken was again on the greasy sticky side, noodles were plain. Everything underseasoned.
The coconut tapioca was just like warm coconut milk with pearls and the sticky rice with mango was warm slightly undercooked rice with a coconut cream and sharp hard cold chunks of slightly under ripe mango.
As to the positives.. The people working here were warm and inviting, it broke my heart that the food was subpar, the hot Tokyo tea was pretty good. I don't see myself returning but you decide what...
Read moreMings is just a wonderful gem of a place. I have been going to mings and introducing friends to their food for over 10yrs now. They easily make the best chinese food in town. Everything is prepared using fresh ingredients, so there's none of this mush effect you get with the cookie cutter places microwaveable sesame chicken. The atmosphere is amazing. Yeah its small and the booths show their age, but it has so much character- you walk through the door and just feel like you're not in Rochester anymore, like you could have walked in from a street in Chinatown. The food is definitely excellent, having tasted pretty much everything else in the city, and the service is wonderful. Kelly works the front end of the establishment and is always patient, kind, helpful, and accomodating. When she recognizes a frequent customer she'll reward you with complimentary sweets at the end of your meal such as a fried banana dish, fruit, etc. On top of everything, their prices are easily the most reasonable you will find. Be sure to try the staples, but also the soft shelled crab, dragon and pheonix, and a passion...
