Learn moreReview of sushi585: Here is my honest opinion of Sushi585: first and foremost the directions for the ordering I feel should be a bit clearer, the second (I think) step on the wall did not show up on my phone and I would have appreciated something letting me know to add the all you can eat to the cart and hitting order before ordering food. Overall I do think this is a fun way to order! I do believe it would benefit from photos next to the rolls, I didn’t realize from the description that the super California would be a fried roll (I thought it was just the crabmeat but that’s my bad) and I think having an image would help people decide what they want in general. I ordered the dinner ayce and I was a little disappointed in the selection, when I looked at the special rolls listed on the takeout menu there were more options and I do feel the menu would benefit from more special roll options as it felt rather limited. I will say the service was quick and we didn’t have to wait long for our orders to show up which was nice! Onto the actual food: the miso soup was good, my friend and I got the deep fried soft shell crab as an appetizer and we weren’t the biggest fans. We both thought it tasted a little fishy, which deterred me but not my friend, we both agreed that the breading was a bit too thick and greasy but that maybe how it’s supposed to be, this was our first time trying this. My friend got the steak hibachi which she enjoyed but the sauce was a bit thick for her taste, she also ordered the shrimp tempura roll which she said could use more eel sauce but was overall delicious! I ordered the angry dragon roll, dragon roll, special California, rainbow roll, perfect match roll, spider roll, and some nigiri. Overall I was very happy with my rolls, my only critiques being that the perfect match and rainbow rolls could have used slightly bigger pieces of fish and the perfect match roll seemed to have stale/dry rice. I was not a fan of the special roll and spider roll but I really enjoyed the dragon and the angry dragon roll. One thing I loved was the fact that this restaurant didn’t overuse cucumber as a filler, many ayce sushi places fill half the roll with cucumber because it’s cheap and fills you up but it also throws off the balance of the roll. Sushi585 has the perfect amount of cucumber and I feel the rice to filling ratio was also wonderful! I know this place is rather new and I look forward to seeing how things change overtime and I love that the owner is reading, responding to, and implementing things written in other reviews! This is an incredibly long review so if anyone actually reads this in full I am very...
Read moreThis place was overall pretty good for an unlimited sushi joint! My only complaints are the lack of ability to choose sashimi (no rice) instead of sushi and the sushi variety lacking. There weren't many interesting options - no: octopus, squid, scallop, surf clam, white tuna, yellowtail, unagi, ebi, etc. and limited roll choices. They had plenty of non-sushi options for my boyfriend who doesn't reallt do sushi, and it was all fresh and good quality. The shrimp and veg tempura was the only dish that wasn't great. The tempura sauce didn't taste average, zucchini was soggy, and the breading could be better. The service was good - expedient, but the staff weren't particularly friendly or engaging. No smiles or cordialities. The front desk girl was nice enough. The atmosphere was laid back and quiet aside from some bacground music. I have mixed feelings about having to repeatedly scan the QR code to order myself online. While it is very on-brand for the Japanese to not have to speak to someone to order food, I'm not really a fan. It felt very impersonal, and it's easy to exit out accidentally. Fortunately, it remembers what's in your cart. They had a maximum cap of 40 items, and when each individual piece of sushi counts as one but a 5 piece roll also counts as one, I don't know as if this is the most fair, but we only got into the low 30s. Overall, the experience was good, and I have no major complaints, but I will probably try another unlimited sushi place for my next bi-monthly...
Read moreI had read reviews before deciding to try this restaurant and I’m happy to report that my review will be a positive one. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean and well lit. The staff greeted us and sat us in a booth. The concept of this restaurant is like none other than I had experience with, but technology is catching up to all industries and so one has to roll with it. The menu is accessible from a QR code that is pasted on the table. All members of your party can order from one person putting the orders through. Each roll is described and you simply enter the quantity you want. This is an “all you can eat menu only.” No sooner than placing your order, the chef begins preparing your meal. Almost immediately, a bowl of miso soup appears. The rolls appeared soon after in a nice presentation. A definite plus is there are containers of wasabi and fresh ginger on the table for you to serve yourself. No more begging for additional ginger or wasabi! If I had to say one thing that could be improved it is the amount of seafood that is in the rolls. For example, the salmon was so thinly cut that it was almost nonexistent. I feel the portion of seafood should be more substantial. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed a fairly large outdoor patio. This will be nice to sit outside and enjoy lunch or dinner. I look forward to going again and hope I’m pleasantly surprised with larger...
