The boss does not give tips to the employees. Although they are a small business they want to be selfish with their money and not give the tips that their employees rightfully earned! I can say this for a fact as I have given a specific worker tips and they were not given the tip that I had given them. Not once but several times! This is not fair to their employees small business or not! They work their whole heart out trying to make the boss happy when in the end the boss is selfish and does not want to give the tips that their workers have rightfully earned. It’s really disappointing on how they treat their employees. So if you are thinking of leaving a tip to a specific employee I would reconsider as they will not receive that tip that you have specifically given to them. Although they have great food consider the treatment of their workers. I know many people have small business or work for a business and would not appreciate the tips that they earned to be taken by the business. They put their time and effort into that job just to have their tip be taken away from them. Highly do not suggest working here if they are continuing to steal the money that you rightfully earned! Highly suggest asking if tips go towards their workers or not. Have them show evidence! Cash or card that tip should go to the employee that did the service not the boss that is selfish and wants to keep the business open. I know anyone that works in the service industry would be disgusted as to how their employees don’t get to keep the tips...

First off, let me say this is by far the best tasting Ethiopian food I've had in Rochester, let alone outside of rochester. The flavors of everything were very vibrant, fresh, and well above what I expected. If anybody else here has had any Ethiopian food outside of Rochester, pretty much know that it's hard to find some places nearby. Going to DC, you have a plethora of options as it is pretty much the capital of Ethiopian food in the United States. This place is definitely on par and could thrive in that city. The lady who greeted us was very friendly and really wanted to serve us a delicious meal. Ordering there was kind of a buffet style, but they pick it for you, so it's kind of a la carte. You get your choices of as many of the items as you like, and you are more than welcome to come back up for more if you're able to, as the portion sizes are very generous. The injeerawas were very tasty and had a very pleasant chew. It was a very unassuming place but you'll be very satisfied if you do stop by for lunch or dinner on the quality of food and service. No knock to the other restaurants in the Rochester area, but this by far really had my taste buds in a frenzy, to say the least. Will be back again and again and again. I really wish I had taken some pictures before I dove in, but I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was pretty hungry and wanted to get down to business. LOL. I definitely will edit my review with pictures the next time I visit the...

Zemeta’s is the PLACE TO BE. This authentic Ethiopian restaurant is definitely always a go-to in my family. Zemeta (the owner) is the warmest, kindest, friendliest lady ever who will greet you when you enter and always make an appearance to your table. The restaurant isn’t a gigantic area, but still a very cozy size. Each table has special flowers and tablecloth and the entire room is decorated in cultural paintings which makes the visit even more worth while! As for the food, I LOVE the Vegetarian Platter. It contains many rolls of Injera (Ethiopian spongy flatbread) and a large assortment of different ā€œtoppingsā€: sauces, hearty-stews, and vegetables. Each ā€œtoppingā€ has its own unique flavor - some spicy, some mild, some containing potatoes, some containing spinach, etc. These delicious ā€œtoppingsā€ are infused with flavor and, as the dish usually comes with 9 different types, each makes your mouth water more than the next!! Not only this filling Vegetarian Platter (you will be bringing home leftovers!) I like to order a Sambusa. Sambusa’s are basically a triangle of thick breading containing spiced up lentils inside! Served warm it always hits the spot. So yes, I šŸ’Æ recommend Zemeta’s to any local who wants to expand their horizons and try...

I dropped by on a Friday for the lunch buffet. There was a good variety of vegetarian and meat dishes to select from. My server loaded up my plate with a variety of beef, lamb and vegetable choices and provided an extra plate of injera ( think of spongy, slightly tangy pita bread) to scoop and soak with. Because I was in a rush, I only did one plate from the buffet, but that was more than filling. Everything was delicious! I've been a fan of this place for years now, and being able to stop in for lunch is a great break from working at home. Things to note if you are new to Ethiopian food - you will rarely find a good Ethiopian restaurant with speedy service. I'm sure there are exceptions, but it helps to have slightly different expectations from the start. The service is still friendly and accommodating. Stopping by for the lunch buffet is a very good way to try out this kind of food. My bill with a drink was $15 which I consider quite reasonable.

This was our first experience at this restaurant and I can't wait to go back. First, they were very VERY friendly and helpful. My kids had never had Ethiopian and they were so nice in helping them decide and offering whatever they had. The vegan dishes were all clearly labeled and delicious. Their injira bread is perfectly soft and spongy. My only (very minor) complaint is that some of the dishes were a bit soupy, which created a mess on the plate. Although it was still delicious I do like same separation for the different flavors. The price was amazing as well. We had 4 and it was just about $50. We've paid twice that at other places for poorer and less food. My 11-year-old said after his first time "I think I could eat this every day for the rest of my life." He went back for refills 3 times. Lol

What a great experience. The woman running the place was so nice; we told her we’d never had Ethiopian food, so she fixed us a sample plate packed full of everything—rice, lentils, chickpeas, curries, collard greens, cabbage, chicken, beef, lamb, and the spongy injira bread on the side. (You eat by tearing off pieces of injira and dipping into the curries, but she has forks as well.) Everhthing was sooo flavorful and just the right amount of spice! I especially loved the spicy lamb. One plate was $17 and was plenty for 2 people to share, with a little leftover to go. Will definitely be back!
