The boss does not give tips to the employees. Although they are a small business they want to be selfish with their money and not give the tips that their employees rightfully earned! I can say this for a fact as I have given a specific worker tips and they were not given the tip that I had given them. Not once but several times! This is not fair to their employees small business or not! They work their whole heart out trying to make the boss happy when in the end the boss is selfish and does not want to give the tips that their workers have rightfully earned. Itās really disappointing on how they treat their employees. So if you are thinking of leaving a tip to a specific employee I would reconsider as they will not receive that tip that you have specifically given to them. Although they have great food consider the treatment of their workers. I know many people have small business or work for a business and would not appreciate the tips that they earned to be taken by the business. They put their time and effort into that job just to have their tip be taken away from them. Highly do not suggest working here if they are continuing to steal the money that you rightfully earned! Highly suggest asking if tips go towards their workers or not. Have them show evidence! Cash or card that tip should go to the employee that did the service not the boss that is selfish and wants to keep the business open. I know anyone that works in the service industry would be disgusted as to how their employees donāt get to keep the tips...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off, let me say this is by far the best tasting Ethiopian food I've had in Rochester, let alone outside of rochester. The flavors of everything were very vibrant, fresh, and well above what I expected. If anybody else here has had any Ethiopian food outside of Rochester, pretty much know that it's hard to find some places nearby. Going to DC, you have a plethora of options as it is pretty much the capital of Ethiopian food in the United States. This place is definitely on par and could thrive in that city. The lady who greeted us was very friendly and really wanted to serve us a delicious meal. Ordering there was kind of a buffet style, but they pick it for you, so it's kind of a la carte. You get your choices of as many of the items as you like, and you are more than welcome to come back up for more if you're able to, as the portion sizes are very generous. The injeerawas were very tasty and had a very pleasant chew. It was a very unassuming place but you'll be very satisfied if you do stop by for lunch or dinner on the quality of food and service. No knock to the other restaurants in the Rochester area, but this by far really had my taste buds in a frenzy, to say the least. Will be back again and again and again. I really wish I had taken some pictures before I dove in, but I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was pretty hungry and wanted to get down to business. LOL. I definitely will edit my review with pictures the next time I visit the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreZemetaās is the PLACE TO BE. This authentic Ethiopian restaurant is definitely always a go-to in my family. Zemeta (the owner) is the warmest, kindest, friendliest lady ever who will greet you when you enter and always make an appearance to your table. The restaurant isnāt a gigantic area, but still a very cozy size. Each table has special flowers and tablecloth and the entire room is decorated in cultural paintings which makes the visit even more worth while! As for the food, I LOVE the Vegetarian Platter. It contains many rolls of Injera (Ethiopian spongy flatbread) and a large assortment of different ātoppingsā: sauces, hearty-stews, and vegetables. Each ātoppingā has its own unique flavor - some spicy, some mild, some containing potatoes, some containing spinach, etc. These delicious ātoppingsā are infused with flavor and, as the dish usually comes with 9 different types, each makes your mouth water more than the next!! Not only this filling Vegetarian Platter (you will be bringing home leftovers!) I like to order a Sambusa. Sambusaās are basically a triangle of thick breading containing spiced up lentils inside! Served warm it always hits the spot. So yes, I šÆ recommend Zemetaās to any local who wants to expand their horizons and try...
