Recess coffee has chosen an excellent location to expand, directly across the street from city hall. This is an excellent location for those who work downtown to have a quality cup of coffee and sandwich, but since not a lot goes on in this vicinity on weekend mornings, parking is cinch, unlike their other location, where parking is nigh impossible 24x7, and the place is constantly filled with college kids staring at their computers, nursing one cup of coffee for three hours (again, referring to the original location, not this one). Anywho, I was impressed with my delicious pour over, and everything bagel. The wraps in the case look delicious, and I look forward to trying one on my next visit. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the whole coffee beans they sell have the all important "born on" date, instead of the nebulous "best by" date. Coffee beans are at their most flavorful when they are roasted. The further away from the roast date they are ground and consumed, the less flavorful your cup of Joe. The hatred for white males (or anyone that looks like one) by the staff was palpable. I suspect that if I had subtly disclosed my actual heritage, I would have been immediately treated with respect and kindness, as has happened dozens of times in the past with social justice activist types.
I would not recommend unless you are a fan of gender and race discrimination by the self-proclaimed “tolerant” and...

Waiting, waiting until a next customer arrives and is served. I go to the counter to find why they were served and we were still waiting only to find our coffees sitting on the counter. When I asked why I was not given a suitable answer. When I questioned why did I give a tip and accept the offer for table service I was given a blunt you didn’t have to give a tip. So rude. I left frustrated after all I wanted was a quiet relaxing...
