The perfect wedding day is almost completely unheard of, everyone tells you that something will go wrong, however, with the help of the team at Marriott Syracuse Downtown our day was truly and completely perfect.
We were first connected with our coordinator Anissa Quilty. She was ready for anything and everything we threw her way! She helped with all our questions as we started digging into the planning process and helped to answer questions we were getting from our outside vendors. Anissa also helped us to get our room block set up and get the Hotel Syracuse Suite reserved for our Bridal Party. About 4 months before our wedding, Anissa got a promotion (yay!) and helped to provide an easy transition to our new coordinator, Kayla Sawyer.
Kayla was truly amazing to work with! I was an extremely organized and detailed Bride, and I knew exactly how I wanted our wedding day to look. Kayla was ready for the challenge of helping us achieve the vision that we had. She was always ready for our questions and answered them quickly, if she didn't have the answer, she knew who to go to for help! Kayla helped to bring all our little details and ideas to life. We wanted a classic wedding, but we didn't want to be traditional, and Kayla completely understood that vision.
Kayla met us in the lobby when we arrived at the hotel on Friday of our Wedding Weekend and helped to get everyone checked into their rooms and get all our belongings onto luggage carts. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, Kayla was attentive to all our wants and needs and made us feel special. She checked in on our parents and Bridal Party too. We also brought in a day-of-coordinator and Kayla very quickly approached her to go over any last-minute details or plans and they stayed in contact for the duration of our wedding weekend.
On Saturday morning, Kayla got right into setting up all our decor (and there was a lot of it!). I provided Kayla with a detailed list along with a few pictures of how I wanted things set-up, and she executed everything perfectly. Everything was exactly how I wanted it to be, and she even found the perfect places for our miscellaneous items that didn’t really have a “home.”
Sharon was working seamlessly with Kayla throughout the entire night. She was there to make sure our guests were happy, well fed and hydrated. She helped to put the finishing touches on the tables and made sure to check in with us and our parents during our cocktail hour and reception.
Now, let's talk food! It was the best food I've ever had at a wedding. Hands down! Our guests are still telling us how great their meals were. The cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres were unmatched! The shrimp cocktail display that we added on was to die for! I highly recommend splurging on that if you can. Your guests won’t forget it!
The wait staff and bartenders were shining stars! Mandy was waiting on our head table (we met her at our tasting and requested her for our reception) and I am so grateful for her. She was consistently (but not annoyingly) checking in on us, making sure we had enough food, refreshing our cocktails and so much more. You could really tell she cared about helping us have a perfect night. Our guests also raved about how quickly the bartenders worked and how fun they were while they did it!
I promise you won’t regret having your wedding at Marriott Syracuse Downtown. The Grand Ballroom is unlike anything you will find anywhere in the Syracuse area and the amount of beauty and history the hotel holds makes for a really...

Read moreI honestly can’t figure out why this hotel gets rated so highly? Stayed here on business for one night and while Kevin at the front desk was very kind, he is the only person that seemed to really care about the guests. As I pulled up to valet, I was only stared at by the men in blue. Expecting someone to at least walk over and ask if I was checking in, I instead got out of my car, unloaded my bags, walked toward the door, only to hear the guy in charge yell to his guys- “Hey tell that f’in Lincoln to move!” I calmly stated that I was that f’ing Lincoln and that I sat in it for 5 minutes awaiting instruction on what to do. He gave me my tag finally but not before yelling at another confused customer- “You’ll have to find somewhere else to park!” While throwing his thumb in the air as if to say “Move it!” Cars were literally everywhere, and blocked the street from passing traffic. Then after carrying my bags up two flights to the lobby I checked in because digital check in wasn’t working. Hotel lobby is gorgeous if you’re into historic renovations like I am. Halls have original marble base and terrazzo floors which is gorgeous too and even the original doors to each room. Once in the room though, that’s where the beauty ended. Windows were so crusted over you could barely see out and mine had stainless screws drilled thru the sill to keep them from opening. The room was very dark even with every light turned on and I think that’s by design so you can’t see how beat up everything is. I went to set up my gear to get some work done except unlike some of the pictures I’d seen, there was no desk to work from. Room service was fine for dinner except the guy that checked me in, happened to be the same guy that brought me the food so the staff seems to be well overworked. The wifi was terrible and the faster speed wasn’t available. The bed was fine but the room was so damp it wasn’t conducive to sleeping. You can tell that the old 2 or 4 pipe system is still in use which in my opinion, isn’t engineered to handle the weather in 2023. I’m sure that it was high tech a hundred years ago but back then, having a fan installed was a step up. I got thru the night fine though and since I had a few hours to kill before my flight I decided to get a little work done over breakfast. I ordered at 8:15 and by 9:45 it still hadn’t arrived. Not able to wait any longer I had to hit the shower and of course as soon as I did, I heard a knock at the door. (Alecia did call me once during the wait to tell me that it would be up in just a few minutes) I got out of the shower and found my food outside the door on the floor. I figured I would at least eat the bacon and have a cup of coffee but alas, there was no bacon and the extra cream and sugar that I ordered with the coffee was nowhere to be found. Even if they did bring it, I would have had to use a pen to stir is since there was no silverware either. Alecia was kind enough to remove breakfast from the bill. Overall I’d say this was a 2 star stay and even though I’m in town twice a month, that was my last night at...
