How does a theater have smoke machines, that they use regularly, but set off the smoke alarm? How are you not prepared for that? Secondly, I don't know how on Earth a Disney performance ended up in this dump of a theater. I literally saw my son perform as a 4-year-old there, it's not a theater for a Disney performance. We were let in with about 5 minutes to spare, and we didn't even see the opening act and the fire alarms were going off. We were sent outside in the freezing cold to be told they were going to let us wait in the hallway of the building across the street. After waiting for about 20 minutes there, we went back to the Civic center building and waited outside of the theater doors for another 20 minutes. Then, the fire marshal came out and told us it would be another 30 minutes before they could allow anyone in the theater as they needed to smoke to dissipate. The fake, purposefully used smoke, that was part of the show, to dissipate. If we would have stayed for the show I'm sure it would have been 11:30 at night by the time they were done. If the show even went on, who knows. The only benefit of all of this was they were allowing refunds. Though they tried to funnel me into the next show on Sunday at 2 p.m. I spent $50 in concession that I never would have spent in a million years if I wasn't there, and if I wasn't planning on being there I wouldn't have bought any of it. So between the parking and the concession, I lose anyway. Popcorn was $5 and not very fresh. Candy was $5 and also not very fresh. Beer was 13.00... I do have to say good on the couple of actors that came out to entertain the crowd while they were waiting. I'm sure the parents with smaller children appreciated that. I find it somewhat embarrassing that we have Disney come to town for Newsies and stuff them in this dump of a theater and have this happen. Par for the course here in syracuse, the promoters in this city have always stunk. Still completely baffled about the smoke...
Read moreI attended the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker in 2018.The dance troop was wonderful. However the parking offered for the venue was quite a walk from the center esp in December weather, dressed up, and the advertised enclosed cross-walk to get into the adjasent building to make the treck indoors was locked. The theater itself was the most austere I have ever seen and reminds one of a parking garage. The stage is too small for the poor dancers who can barely complete two leaps without practically landing in the audience. That or they must do them in short bursts making the moves look less graceful and choppy. The worst part of the evening was not the cold cramped seating but the abomination the management aparently feels passes as a sound system. It was horrid and I felt so bad for the troop up there giving it their all while we cowered from the noise with ALL the sound coming from above center stage and blaring at you from wasted speakers. I could see their looks of dismay as to our lack of reaction to their eforts, but it was not them that dissapointed...it was the god awful sound sysem! No effort what-so-ever to achieve a more humane and professional stereo or surround sound effect by distributing the sound around the theater was made. It was our first Nutcracker and unless they do something about this theater/auditorium, it will be our last in Syracuse for I will travel elsewhere to a better managed venue to see shows of this nature from now on rather than endure this again. If I were the Ballet I would pass Syracuse up rather than insult my troop by performing on that pathetic stage. In fact the buildings entrance or a college gym would have been an improvement in all...
Read moreI was there for rexicon.expo. It's for lizard's, snake's and all other forms of reptiles. It also has booth's to buy food for the animals. Tank's, decorations, calcium supplements, couches, and a lot of other things to purchase. If your looking for a reptile, chances are they will have it. Beware, this expo is what you would call a cash and grab. It's all about money. If you have a question about a particular reptile, you had better be flashing some cash or you will be ignored. The way they treat some of these animals is a disgrace boarding on animal abuse. For example, you cannot house bearded dragons together. They are a solitary type that don't play well with others. They fight sometimes to the death of each other. Yet everywhere I went all I saw were over crowded housing. Reptiles that don't belong together, were toghter. The more that they could squeeze in, the more money they could make at a cost to the reptiles. No food or water for the animals. There out there from 8:00am to 5:00pm, without food or water. That's animal abuse. Plain and simple animal abuse. I'm not saying everyone out there is a cash and grab, because so many aren't. These events make the real reptile.expo look bad. This is a bad one. Go to others and see the...
