Alex’s Bar & Grille in White Plains proved itself to be a dining destination where exceptional food, impeccable service, and thoughtful beverage pairings come together in harmony. My visit on September 24, 2025, was one for the books—an evening that beautifully blended classic fine dining with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, meriting a full five stars.

The evening began with the Lump Crab Meat Cocktail, a dish that set the tone with its elegance and freshness. The crab was tender, sweet, and perfectly chilled, enhanced only by a delicate touch of seasoning. It was a refined starter that celebrated the purity of the ingredient, leaving the palate refreshed and eager for the courses to come.

For the entrées, both selections showcased the kitchen’s range and finesse. The Surf and Turf was indulgent perfection—an expertly cooked steak with a satisfying sear, paired seamlessly with buttery, rich seafood. Every bite offered a balance of texture and flavor that spoke to precision and skill. On the lighter side, the Lemon Sole Marechiara was a triumph of coastal flavors. The delicate sole carried the brightness of lemon, while clams, mussels, and calamari brought a briny depth that was both rustic and refined. The sauce tied everything together with a lively citrus accent, making each forkful sing with freshness.

Elevating the dining experience even further were the thoughtfully chosen wines. The Tapestry by BV was a masterful companion to the meal, its bold structure and complex notes of dark fruit, spice, and oak complementing the richness of the Surf and Turf while standing up beautifully to the seafood’s savory nuances. To close the evening, a glass of 20-year Taylor Port offered a lush, velvety finish. Its notes of dried fruit, caramel, and subtle nuttiness lingered on the palate, creating a decadent finale that felt both luxurious and comforting.

Yet, what truly distinguishes Alex’s Bar & Grille is its service. The staff anticipated needs with grace and attentiveness, offering wine pairings that enhanced the meal and timing each course to perfection. Their genuine hospitality made the experience not just a dinner, but an occasion.

From start to finish, Alex’s Bar & Grille delivered an unforgettable evening, seamlessly weaving together fine cuisine, excellent wines, and standout service. It is the kind of establishment that makes a diner feel valued, and the kind of meal that lingers in memory long after the last...

First, please don't get put-off by the name Bar and Grille. This is a delightful, delicious Italian restaurant! We were greeted at the door by the owner Alex who gave us all a warm welcoming. The wait staff was so accommodating, and our entire meal was simply amazing! We ate outside under strong heat-lamps which kept us nice and toasty while dining during the last Saturday of summer. Tables were correctly spaced for social distancing. Our food and drinks came out nicely spaced and not rushed. We had the veal parmesan, chicken parmesan, homemade potato gnocchi, calamari in a Creamy White Wine Sauce, apple strudel napoleon. All dishes were delicious and seasoned well. Portions were generous. Definitely order the calamari as it is baked and was cooked perfectly as it was NOT chewy (meaning that it was not overcooked). The parmesan and homemade gnocchi dishes were fantastic. Would highly recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and family. Parking was easy too. If you want quality Italian and good portion sizes this...

Our guests seemed pleased. He said his white bean soup was very good. His salad looked fresh. She liked her crispy duck and enjoyed her cannoli. It’s very important for us that they were pleased.

Service was good. It was nice of a gentleman other than our waiter to ask us if everything was okay.

On the other hand, my husband’s salmon was petite. So were the supposedly mixed vegetables but were mostly green beans with his meal. My two soft shell crabs and the green beans were not convincingly good tasting. I was shocked when I saw that they charged $42.95 for my meal (ref. uploaded pictures). Even for dinner it would have been way overpriced. We had lunch at 12:15 p.m. Soft shell crabs here are not worth it!

This rating is 3 in consideration of our guests’ positive np experience. If I base this on mine, it would be 1.

I trust I had described our collective...

This is an upscale Italian restaurant and it is a bit under rated. The location just mins. outside of City of White Plains. Easy access from many major roadways. Good size free parking lot. The interior is very warm and welcoming. It is quite a romantic spot for dinner. Great selection full size bar with plenty of space that is completely separated from the dinning area. The food and services were wonderful. The owner Alex will go out of his way to make sure you feel welcome.

Met the expectation, as a local casual grill bar. Attentive management, Polite staff, we had prime rib stake and surf and turf as main, very good. Vegetables and potato that comes with it : wasn't good. Pasta was delicious. Good value for price. The place itself is datad, needs fresh up. Location and surrounding is not fancy, so is a place for having good food during the week .
