This bakery produces low rate cakes for small grocery stores. Their cakes taste nothing like a homemade cake. They use cake mix from a distributor instead of the homemade mix you're use to from your grandmother... flour, sugar, baking powder, etc... You can spend less going to Walmart and buying a moist cake mix and some caramel icing.

Aside from horrible cakes, the owners (Sue and Junior Cleckler) are racist and don't care about their employees. They pay below the federal minimum wage (starting pay of $7.25.) If you are Hispanic/black/Asian, or even look as such, don't think you will receive any respect or appreciation from the owners. Sue and Junior especially dislikes anyone that looks or is Hispanic. They will employee (hire) for the cheap labor; but they will curse you, talk down to you, and treat you trash. They promote Caucasians over any other...

Wow! It's hard to believe someone would take the time to write a negative review because they cut into a chocolate cake and found only the icing was chocolate. My granny use to make a chocolate cake that was so close to Sue's chocolate cake that I'm thinking Sue and I must be related somehow. 😉 Unbelievable, I've tried three different flavors so far. The only thing I don't like is I'm bound to be adding some pounds as long as Sue's in business. Don't change a thing Mrs Sue. Let the "new fashioned" get their cakes from Stouffers. My guess is that some of these negative reviews are coming from Sue's jealous competition. BTW.....the only reason I looked up Cakes by Sue was to see if they made my favorite German Chocolate cake. Keep up...

The label is very misleading. We purchased a cake for my sister’s birthday. She loves chocolate so we bought what we thought was a chocolate cake because it said chocolate cake. However when we cut the cake we discovered it was a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I did look again after finding out it was a yellow cake. It does say in the ingredient listing yellow cake but I still feel the label is deceitful. Also the cake was to all of us a little dry, especially for the price we paid for it. I do not think I will ever buy another cake made by...
