A friend of mine was looking for some home-cooked food. Since neither of us is familiar with the Clanton area, I relied on Google for some recommendations. When we arrived, it seemed they were about to close for the day in the next 30 minutes or so. A few people rolled their eyes as one of the staff was breaking down the salad bar. After we arrived, two more tables arrived, so we were not the only visitors arriving later than I would have preferred. I was a bit skeptical from some of the looks that were being exchanged, but my friend was really craving home-style cooking. Once our waitress arrived to take our order, she was more pleasant than I had anticipated. She took our order without hesitation and even offered us dessert, which we were not charged for. The food was satisfactory, but I wonder if it was because of the time we arrived. If I am in the area again, I might give them a second chance. I have been a waitress myself and understand the desire to finish tasks and end the day. Additionally, I recognize that tips are an important part of a server's income. My attitude while waiting tables was always to welcome and accommodate...
Read moreIf you want a TRUE home-cooked meal like granny used to make then COME HERE!!! I can not say enough great things about this place. My friend suggested we come here for lunch a couple of days ago and I knew it was “home cook & southern” food but I didn’t have high hopes as A LOT of places try to do the same thing and don’t accomplish that same “at home” taste I LOVE. Anywho, we stopped in here and right off the rip I knew it had to be AMAZING because it was 1 o’clock and it was almost completely full… on a Tuesday!!! We sat wherever we wanted instead of being sat by a host (which I love). We weren’t handed meals because the meals of the day were posted all around the building on a white board so they can erase things as they run out. I got a drink, entree, 2 sides, cornbread and a dessert for under $11!!!!! I could not believe it!!! The food I had tasted just like my granny’s cooking so I give the food a 10/10. The atmosphere reminded me of my hometown and my waitress was absolutely incredible. Needless to say, I will be...
Read moreNice little home feel. Service was super slow and it wasn't busy at all. I arrived and it was my 1st time ever being here so I stood near the door not knowing if it was self seat or not. After about 4 or 5 minutes a lady came up and I asked and she just said find a seat. So I did. The booths are a bit small so I opted for a table. Took nearly 10 minutes for a waitress to come take a drink order. I also gave my order at the same time. After about 25 minutes my food arrives. I eat my grits which are a bit lumpy but good. Then I cut into my omelet and there are onions! Gag! I was finally able to get waitresses attention and she grabbed my entire plate and had them remake. 15 minutes later my food came back out. So if you want to spend over an hour to get a meal and no refills on your drink, this is the place for you. I know I wont be coming back to pay $13 for a meal that took that long and was...
