The food was absolutely superb and well worth waiting for! The crab rangoons were fantastic and the catfish po' boy was on point, that sauce is absolutely amazing! Please make sure you take care of your staff though. Our server seemed to be having an EXTREMELY bad night. We had to send the shrimp rice back because it tasted burned but the refire was absolutely perfect. I am so sorry if my birthday cheesecake slice and the rice was an issue. I felt absolutely horrible about the whole situation. I really apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused to our server.
Edit: Per your request for more details. My husband ordered the shrimp rice. When it arrived to the table we all tried it and it tasted really burned. We went and told our Waitress and kindly requested a refire on it in which time she just quickly ran off to the back. So we explained our situation again to another employee who kindly came and retrieved the rice from our table and apologized. We were in no way upset over it, we are aware mistakes happen!! When our waitress finally came back from the back, she was standing at our table absolutely sobbing stating she was quitting and she had enough. We all gave her a hug and made sure she understood we were NOT mad in any way and in no way were we blaming her, thing's happen in the kitchen. The new rice was brought back to the table and my family mentioned that it was my birthday. The two staff that brought our rice acknowledged that fact and hurried off. Well. That's when chaos happened. The two staff returned with a piece of cheesecake with a sparkler and brought us our bill...five seconds later she also returned with a piece of cheesecake and our bill. At this time they're singing happy birthday to me, she's giving me the most horrible look and saying over and over "Well there's your cheesecake!" "There's your cheesecake!" I honestly wanted anything in the world to disappear in that moment. It was the absolute MOST uncomfortable experience I've EVER had in a restaurant, I could have seriously cried and wanted to just crawl under the table. I never meant to make our server mad in any way nor did we mean to...
Read moreBeing from the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland, I was very excited when I saw a seafood restaurant that actually had what we categorize as real seafood, including steamed blue crabs. Although the preparation was a little different than my experience with blue crabs, and the crabs were very small being that it’s difficult to get good sized crabs in this area, I left mostly satisfied, which is hard to achieve with me when it comes to seafood. I will list what I liked and what I think could be improved, but all in all, I would come back again. What was good: Really clean Excellent service Very interesting preparation sides (which I didn't expect) served with the crabs Very tasty food Choice of seasonings and spice levels Fair price
What could be improved (in my opinion) Crabs were slightly overcooked, which made the meat dry rather than plump and juicy. The dipping butter that they give you saved them though because if you dip the crab in the butter, it offsets the dryness from being a bit overcooked. Utensils should be slightly different for such small crabs because it's hard to break the shells being that the crab cracker can't close small enough to crack the crab legs very well. Either smaller crab crackers, or at least a sharp pointed knife or utensil to pull the meat out of the leg would be very handy
If only these 2 things are modified, (especially the crabs being steamed a minute or 2 less), this would definitely earn a 5 star with us. Next time we come, we will bring our own crab utensils along to make sure we don't miss out on anything left in the legs. We'll also ask how long the crabs are normally steamed and ask that they steam ours slightly less. Thanks for this very nice...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to stop in today for a meal after grocery shopping. We arrived around 11:30 AM, shortly after opening, and noticed only two other guests seated. We stood at the front counter for quite some time, waiting to be acknowledged and seated, but no one came. A staff member eventually walked over to answer the ringing phone but never greeted us, asked us to hold, or acknowledged our presence in any way. She simply took the phone order. As she was finishing the call, a family of three walked in. Instead of addressing us first, she immediately asked them how many were in their party, completely disregarding my husband and me. We spoke up to let her know we had been waiting first, and even the other family pointed to us in agreement. However, rather than correcting the oversight, she dismissed our concerns and responded with rudeness. Given the circumstances, we can’t ignore the feeling that we were treated this way because of our race, as my husband and I are Black while the other family was not. This is incredibly disappointing and unacceptable. In today’s world, no one should have to experience this kind of treatment, and we refuse to spend our money at an establishment where we are not acknowledged or respected. I wanted to bring this situation to attention because no customer should ever be made to feel unwelcome. I hope this is addressed so that no one else has to go through a similar experience. I didn’t get a chance to catch her name unfortunately but hopefully no one else has to experience what we...
