4/20/2019 Arrived at Waffle House on Highway 70 in Clayton, NC. I am a BIG FAN of Waffle House but I can not believe the service I got tonight! My husband and I arrived around 9 pm, no one was really in there...another couple and the employees. The entire restaurant was filthy! Trash and condiments smeared the floor, at least the menu's were stuck to the table with smelly water! We were yelled at with a greeting as we walked in the door, from a very loud and energetic young fellow. As we proceeded to seat ourselves, that same loud fellow came to take our order. Now mind you, first time in this establishment, and my expectations fell right through the floor. As this young fellow came to get our orders, why did he pick up a paper napkin to write the order on?! We ordered, what we always order at Waffle House. ..the All-Star brkfst with grits and sausage with coffee for my King and for his Queen, the philly cheese steak hashbrown bowl with half sweet tea/lemonade mix with no ice. We waited at least 10 minutes for our drinks. Finally! Drinks came. Lemonade without ice came. Sweet tea without ice came. Not what I ordered. Second attempt to drinks...coffee. ✔ Sweet tea with lemon slices. 🙁😯 . Third attempt an Arnold Palmer! Yes to the high heavens! Thinking we were out of the woods....now we wait for the food....a plate of eggs and grits slid in front of me....not what I ordered....and my King had slid in front of him a waffle. Hmmm....waitress walks away not seeing if things were ok, if we needed anything else like syrup for his waffle or the sausage that was to be included with his meal? Sausage came....dried out like they were sitting on the grill all day! What's really going on here? I know it's 4/20 but is EVERYONE HIGH HERE TONIGHT??!! At this time, my appetite is gone, the food smell turned my stomach as I sat there waiting for my food. Finally it comes, smells good. That's a plus in this story! Bare with me...couldn't eat because appetite had left 20 minutes ago. Tried to eat as much as I could, we then asked for to go plates. I thought the clue to us asking for to go plates was to bring the check...❌nope. 2 people look at me standing at the register waiting to settle my bill....at least 30 seconds went by that felt like 5, paid the bill, lady was so scared to say anything....I politely said...." Thank-you." That same young loud fellow that so flamboyantly yelled at us when we entered....did the same on our way out. But the funniest part was when we finally got the check, 1) you would automatically think a discount would apply at this point. 2) The waitress had the nerve to say to our faces that she knew their services sucked but if when we come back....HOLD UP! Queen's mind is wondering...."WHEN WE COME BACK...." tuned back in to hear the last part of what she was saying....we would get much better service! Sorry Clayton, NC Waffle House on Hwy...
Read moreWe decided to take my older son(7 years old) for easter. It is one of his favorite restaurants. Normally, you seat yourself at the waffle house. Well apparently they were seating people and there was a wait. My husband, sons, and I walked in. There was no person at the door and no sign informing us to wait.. there wasn't really many people standing around or anything unusual.. so we looked around there was an open booth and another area with 3 open seats to sit directly in front of the cooks.. we chose the booth because we had an infant.. we sat down and the waitress came up (which our waitress was very nice and prompt this review has nothing to do with her or our quality of food) and took our drink order and food order..she gave us our drinks.. then all of a sudden another younger woman, I guess she was a hostess.. decided to come up to us and say: "um excuse me for future references we are seating people and their were people waiting for this booth".. we instantly were apologetic and offered to get up so they can sit. We had no idea. She said "no you can sit now but it was for future references." I have worked in the food service for about 6 years, hosting, serving, managing, Crew training, prep cook, cook etc. Basically every role except for general manager. Then owned a business in customer service for another 4 years.. Never would I have ever done that to a customer. She ruined my son's meal and our meal.. we felt terrible for the rest of the meal. If I hadn't promised my son a good meal, I would've instantly left!! We felt as though everyone was staring us down, INCLUDING HER, the entire meal. It was awful. I understand informing us so we would know next time we came and not make the same mistake. The way she was, it was extremely rude and uncalled for. I try not to make bad reviews because I understand everyone is human, but I really felt the need to write this review. I don't know if maybe we looked young and she thought she could say that to us. Either way, she needs to know that is not a way to treat anyone....
Read moreI was in there the other morning with my boyfriend. I witnessed the viral Waffle House drama first hand. I watched two employees pull in the parking lot very very fast and aggressive. While one proceeds to come in on the floor and throw her hands up at the girl who cooked our breakfast. The girl who cooked then told her “we can talk about this in the back” but all you can hear from the back is the other girl yelling at the girl who cooked our breakfast. Next thing you know her girlfriend ( I’m assuming , not in Waffle House uniform but from what I picked up , she is an employee) is asking a server to open the back door for her. Next thing you know you here the big girl yelling at the little cook “I don’t give a $&$$ about this job or you bi$c& illl punch you right now” and then comes to the low bar of the restaurant and proceeds to interrupt our breakfast. I usally have no problems at this store. But this is the second time ive been in here when that big girl , her name starts with a K treat another employee like garbage while the managers sit...
