First review: Absolutely the best northern style (corned beef hash) breakfast. Not all breakfast sandwiches and biscuits and gravy. REAL food, excellent chefs, excellent service. Prices not like they used to be comparably but then again, it is 2024. Toast could've been toasted but that's the least of my concerns. It wasn't even warm enough to melt the single dollop of margarine in the center of the bread. Honestly though, we loved it and can't wait to go back.
Edit: after returning several times we found that they simply do not know thw definition of "toast" and that the bread is actually supposed to be toasted in a toaster, under heating elements. The corned beef hash is still the best in the area however we've now tried it as a side order which is like a ridiculous $6.79 for a 3 ounce serving. Totally unjustified. We've tried it with the holindaise sauce and I had asked for rye toast so they omitted the English Muffin and replaced it with untoasted soaking wet rye bread with the usual 3 Oz portion of corned beef hash.
Asked for potatoes extra crispy on every visit because 1) we like them extra crispy and 2) they're usually cold or Luke warm at best.
Today they were soggy and Luke warm at best.
Then... there's the fact they buy and use small eggs. You always need to order a 3rd egg just to get the usual amount of a standard "large" egg you'd get anywhere else. Is it really going to put them out of business to use large eggs considering the Individual cost oer customer serving is minimal and it's the most common food item served considering the name of the place is "Eggs up Grill".
After bringing our family of four today the other new guests we were trying to impress with the quality of the restaurant were far from impressed. After showing various individual failures to the waitress she actually didn't have a clue. Showing her untoasted rye bread meant absolutely nothing to her. I waited for my crispy potatoes because the first were totally inedible and the rest of my breakfast was already eaten with the exception of the soggy rye bread under the sauce.
We all simply got up and left, left an appropriate tip and at this point may or may not return. I know our guests will not be going back. It was an...

Since that means they speak your credit card info out loud for everyone nearby to hear, and you can’t pay in cash, ordering take out from here is financially risky or just inconvenient.
Edit: I wrote this review a few months ago and I’ve come back several times since then, and things are only getting worse. During one order, I ordered a steak done medium rare and was served seared, raw meat. Not rare. Raw. Still cold and purple on the inside. During my visit today, 3 employees came to the door, asked what I needed and I told them I needed to order. They all then proceeded to help other customers after promising they would be right back to help. Two of the three even made eye contact with me, so I know they knew I was still there. They were all just waiting for someone else to do the work. Lazy.
And in response to the owner, no, your online ordering system is not convenient. It allows for very rudimentary changes (such as no, light, or extra), but you cannot make any substitutions (such as a different kind of cheese), which can be made in person or over the phone. Since your employees read aloud customer credit card numbers in front of other customers, you definitely do not have customer security in mind. So the only option in order to get food you want, if you don’t want it exactly as it comes on the menu, and not have your credit card info blasted out for everyone to hear, is to order in person.
But that isn’t my problem anymore. This is not a restaurant I will be...
Read moreSo 1st timer here, my mom came to visit and said she wanted to try this food chain restaurant. I wasn't so sure because she always picks breakfast places that have limited selections and high prices. But let me tell you...this wasn't that!!! Prices were comparable to Wafflehouse (not same stuff and still couple dollars more but comparable). I got the Steak and Eggs ($13), also came with grits and toast and a tomatoe garnish. Now I don't usually eat tomatoes by themselves, but when I tell you it was seasoned so well I had to eat it...no lie. The steak was delicious. Now, this is not a steakhouse so don't expect your steak to be cooked exactly as requested 😅. I asked for medium well and mine was fine, but someone else at my table got the same thing and it was more pink than Grey....they didn't complain...so long as it's not bleeding. Another person in my party had the shrimp and grits...it looked good....several medium sized shrimps in there and a good helping of grits. Also the French toast sticks looked good also. It has diner vibes, but mostly tables...just a few booths. However, it's a large space. We came around 12:30pm on a Saturday and it wasn't alot of people. Our waitress could've came around a bit more, but honestly the food surprised me so much by being amazing I'm not going to discount my review. It's located in the same area as the Walmart in Clayton. Go like your going beside/behind the GoGas Walmart Gas Station. Everyone enjoyed...
