Taste of New York Smyrna — Restaurant in Clayton

3.5 Stars if I could give it. Visited 3x. Once was takeout, once was dine in, and the last was drinks (dessert was a bust). #1 -Take out was during COVID and the food was not great. Greens, max and cheese, a curry dish, don't remember what else. We weren't happy with really anything.

Wasn't super excited about visiting again but it was chosen by a coworker for a farewell party. #2- Visit was dine in and I avoided the foods I knew from previous exp weren't good and tried the oxtail (friends dish) and nachos. The oxtail was good and my nachos with the pulled pork and homemade cheese sauce were very good. Service was great. Drinks were a hit around the table and everyone got 2nds. My 2nd drink though had sour and coagulated heavy cream that ruined my drink. The exp was generally good, so I didn't mention that. It was also a Wednesday with Music Bingo and that was a really fun time. Decided all that was a reason to bring another group and give a 3rd visit. #3 - Dessert, drinks and bingo planned visit. Brought family this time. Drink menu was being revamped, so nothing to view and only 3 of the desserts on the menu were available so our plan was thwarted. No desserts we wanted. But 3 of us did have drinks and they were decent. Bingo was great. All in all, the space is good and with better consistency in availability and taste of food, this could be an amazing event location. It could even be the go-to with live entertainment esp because Smyrna doesn't have much in the way of this, but I am unsure if it will be because I feel like it's hit or miss...

Just had lunch there. Been hearing good things about the place for a while but don't get to Smyrna too often. Will be making the trip more often! Large, interesting menu, friendly service and great food! Update: Went back with the rest of the family for dinner. One thing I didn't mention about our first visit was that the service was slow. Thought I'd give them a second chance. Well, this time the service was even worse. Took us an hour to get our appetizer! Was it worth the wait? Sorry but no. We all agreed that our food was ok but not great. Overall very little flavor. Tender and juicy but bland. Overall, I'd probably go back if it wasn't for the service. Our waitress was friendly but a terrible waitress. As it turns out, we had the same waitress both times we visited. Both times she was very nice but was a terrible waitress. Coming back to ask us what we ordered. Telling us she thought they were out of one of the appetizers but then never coming back to confirm one way or another. Bringing drinks and then never coming back to check on us, even after our drinks were empty. When the kitchen was obviously way beyond slow, she never came by to check on us or give us updates. Just ignored us. How a small restaurant hopes to make money when they are so slow...

As someone looking for a nice “go-to” spot, I truly wish I could recommend this place but POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE won’t allow. I was gifted a coupon/voucher but couldn’t use it because the staff couldn’t figure out to accept it! While my order (hot food) sat on the counter, I reached out to the person who gave me the gift. For over 20 minutes, we worked on trying to find a contact number for the employee to no avail. Even though the employee knew the company they contracted with, they denied knowing how to contact them to process the voucher! Nearly 30 minutes and multiple phone calls and screenshots, I gave up, realizing it wasn’t meant to be! Any other reputable business would honor the coupon, offer the food, apologize for the inconvenience and earn a new customer with repeat business. Oh, well! While I hadn’t plan to spend any money, I took my money/business elsewhere. Sad thing is, they not only waisted the food, they lost a customer. I wonder how many other people had the same experience with them not accepting the voucher so...
