Updated from owners response: We've been to this cafe quite a number of times with freinds & family. Not a great experience this last time with our waitress Courtney. I went in with my daughter before school and we had plenty of time and we were there at 10:10, she didn't need to be to school until 1050 due to a late start because we had 3 inches of snow. We were waiting for my mom but told Courtney we could order so my daughter wasn't late. She refused to come over even though I knew what we all wanted after being on the phone w/ my mom, because my mother wasn't there yet. So we sat there and didn't get our food till 1046. So I left with my daughter at 10:50 So she didn't get to eat much of her food & didn't get her to school until 11am. Got back at 11:10 had to finish her food & mine, which were cold. Then we asked for a military discountin which we've had issues receiving before, so proved we were military. She said that she took the drinks off for military, well only one drink was ordered. Wasn't a great experience. Is the military discount just drinks off? There are plenty of other restaurants we can go to that offer a actual military discount. Dont offer something, you dont provide. If the recordings and my account dont match like you say what would you have to work on? Since you are going on about military background for some reason, we also have generations of military in our family - Fathers, uncles, cousins, brothers, grandfathers, aunts and are pretty involved in the military comunity. Still has nothing to do with my original review and we have not been back to the cafe since. When I receive bad service I do make a review to caution others of experiencing the same kind of experience, its my right & No most of my reviews are not poor. Servers were already there at work, so the snow is not really an excuse unlike customers who are coming in. It wasnt terribly busy and our waitress was a little more concerned about speaking with other customers about her vacation she had just went on. I could have given 1 star which is poor if I wanted to be mean, but I felt with this last experience "2" which is "ok" was fair. I dont go out of my way to give a bad review, you have to earn it. I am just honest. I have given 1 stars before and can definitely give you one if you want to argue with me and call me a liar. There's no reason for me to lie. In fact I have given 72 "5 stars" which you failed to mention because you were trying make me look bad, 45 "1 star" reviews out 174 total reviews to places or businesses that have deserved it. Earn it and I have no...

RESPONSE TO OWNER: In my original post, I mentioned that I had been there about six times, so the three star rating was a combination of my six visits and the military discount issue was just one issue from six visits. In my review, I brought to your attention, the fact that there was conflicting and inaccurate information provided to me - which was my experience and something that should be noted. Instead of you addressing my "complaint", you choose to gripe about three stars and compare me to other guests. In my opinion, five stars is perfect and four stars is near perfect. My experiences there were neither outstanding, nor were they poor, so I rated my experience as average. You recommended that I visit other establishments, and I have and felt that they were perfect or near perfect. I also mentioned in my original review, that this was one of the few restaurants of this kind in this area. Just to be clear, my rating of three stars was based on all of my visits combined and not because of 10%, as you stated. The average star rating that I give is 4 stars and the majority of those places do not offer military discounts, so in other words, the three star review was not just because of 10%, and sheer convenience does not warrant four or five stars. I did not love it, nor did I hate which equates to three stars - in my opinion.

If you like typical diners, this is your place. The decor is clever and they have a fallen comrade table, which is always a tear jerker but a tear jerker in a good way. They have set menu items and also daily specials. We've been there about six times, because it's close to the house and there aren't very many other choices in this area. We received 10 percent military discount every time we visited, except for the last time. We were told that the military discount is a free soda and has always been that way. We don't even drink soda but we mentioned that we received military discount in the past but she didn't even acknowledge that statement so we...

Chris' Cafe was good! Chris himself was walking around asking all of the tables how everything was. I've seen owners and managers interacting with customers at other places before, but it certainly doesn't happen enough!

We went on July 5 and the place packed! Our party of 4 only ended up waiting around 20-minutes to get seated, but once we ordered, the food came out surprisingly fast!

I got the chili verde omelet, daughter got the Denver omelet, nephew got the loco moco, and my partner got the French toast and a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits came out a bit later than the rest of the food, and I forgot to take a picture. The chili verde was really thin, like watery. I think because it was so runny, it didn't have a lot of taste. I ended up putting way too much salt on my chili verde omelet. I tried my partners French toast, and idk what it was, but there was this amazing floral taste at the back of my pallet. I also ended up helping her finish the biscuits and gravy 😋 I didn't try my nephews loco moco, but he said it was "so good" and my daughter very much enjoyed her Denver omelet.

The hashbrowns have a different flavour, but it was delicious! I think they might cook the potatoes with some kind of animal fat?

I got the scone for my bread. It tasted like a traditional scone recipe. The honey butter was good as well, but they really didn't put enough on. I didn't ask for more as the menu shows $0.50 for extra honey butter.

Our server was super nice and attentivene as well. We never waited long for refills, but she wasn't obsessively stopping by every few minutes, which was nice. We tipped her $20 and she was so grateful. I would hope to get her as our server when we visit again, because she was great

All in all, we will definitely be going back to...

When I visited for the first time and realized what I have been missing out on. I love this restaurant. The ambiance and the menu are right up my alley. The menu is complete with new takes on many breakfast and lunch options. I was pleased to know that you can rent the whole place at night for a private gathering. I found some old friends there and was surprised that there was a wait to a seated at 10 am on a Saturday. We dined as a family and even my young children were enjoying being there. I had the Chili Verde Eggs Benedict with hash browns and thoroughly enjoyed them. I don’t often find eggs Benedict on the menu and was well pleased to pair it with Chile Verde. My portion size was larger than I could finish and the wait staff was excellent. I can tell that Chris and Christy truly love to provide great service and I was even greeted by Chris and asked if I was enjoying my meal. I was so pleased to see ownership taking such an active role in the customer experience. I really fell in love with the decor and laughed out loud when I saw the wall with Tim “the tool man” Taylor of Home Improvement’s next door neighbor Wilson on the back wall of the restaurant. I just don’t know another place that really has that attention to detail and a fun character one feel. I am a car guy and if you own a motorcycle or have a passion for hot rods or muscle cars of the ‘60’s this place is where you want to share a meal with your friends and family. My wife was well pleased with her french dip and au jus with steak cut fries. My children filled up on pancakes, bacon, and French toast. I planned to take a picture of my meal but was so excited to try it I forgot! See the photos.

***18DEC18 Update*** Went back and got a burnt Reuben. This is the second time that happened to my family. We even got an email saying they would swap out and correct the issues in my first review below. Don't believe that happened. Pancakes were burnt the last time. I did my best to make it work with my Reuben. Lemons & lemonade. You know? The waitress offered to get a new one. I declined. I'm sure if it wasn't burnt it would have been an ok sandwich. Should've never got past quality control. Or whoever's checking that stuff. And the syrup was runny. I get it was hot. (Not sure you should be heating/microwaving the plastic bottle it was put into. Maybe you're not. I don't know.) Seemed watery to my wife. My son enjoyed his biscuits and gravy. We wish you folks well. ***Update*** So I wasn't impressed when I went in the first time. I was impressed by how much work the owners are willing to put in to make things right. The owners are really paying attention to what's going on in their restaurant. That's the kind of place you want here. Great job guys. Thank you for making it right.***End Update*** I wasn't real impressed with the place. However, it just opened and isn't at full strength. So I will be back to give it another try when they have had time to get everything going. The food was ok and they got my order wrong. Service was good. Smiling happy folks. So there is hope for this new place. I look forward to going back and giving them another shot once they are caught up.9
