Visiting our daughter’s church downtown, decided, the three of us, to check out some place nearby. We liked the reviews, so my daughter chose La Pollera, thinking it was Mexican. It was Colombian, so trying some new things. Place was packed, we were lucky. There was one open table, so seated right away.
We were brought waters and menus and ordered the Beef Empanadas as an appetitizer. My wife selected the Ajiaco, Chicken and Potato soup. My daughter decided on the Sandwich de Carne, Steak sandwich. After looking for something different, I chose the Frijoles con Garra, Beans with pork skin, Fried Pork Belly, Rice, Fried Plantains and Avacado.
Apparently every meal comes with a small salad, which was nice. As we were eating our salads, our Empanadas came. Wow! These were the best Empanadas we had ever eaten. Crispy, hot, well filled, and delicious.
Our meals came and they were whoppers. Especially after 3.6 Empanadas with my daughter - my wife only had 1/2. My wife’s soup was huge, most of it went home. As did 1/2 of my daughter’s sandwich. Couldn’t believe it was only $7.45, a great deal and very tasty. My beans and beans were great and I enjoyed the Pork Belly. Again, half went home for another meal. To wrap it up we were brought a small piece of Caramel Flan to try.
Food was good, service was great, good ambiance but a bit loud at time. My only disappointment was their hot sauce was not even warm. But altogether a nice meal as introduction to Columbian food. Next time I’ll try...
Read moreI came here the first time I tried Colombian food and I am very impressed. The food is full of flavour and very authentic. Service is very quick and staff are very welcoming and make you feel like you’re at home :)
The menu is fairly extensive but the waitstaff will help you navigate it and give you recommendations. To start, the empanadas were very crispy and delicious although burning hot inside.
The smoothies are very rich, sweet and flavourful and fresh. There is condensed milk in them, making them so heavy but nevertheless delicious
Entrees were excellent and food was more than filling. Bandeja paisa is delicious and other selections are very wholesome and flavourful.
Owner was waiting on people and gave us many great recommendations on what to order. At the end, he brought out complimentary flan. The flan was very good and we left very satisfied despite eating a lot of heavy food.
The staff are very friendly and the owner is very hardworking and knowledgeable. In fact I overheard him telling another table that he has had 25+ years experience in restaurants starting in New York, it was impressive that he was able to serve so many people at dinner yet provide excellent service at the same time.
I’d advise for anyone to try Colombian food, come...
Read moreI moved to the area a few years ago and my husband took me here since he's local. We now come often for dinner or lunch and have taken many of our friends and family. The catering is always on point. I've had lunches catered and no one is ever disappointed. They're on time, communicative, and give good options. My sister came over night with us for coffee, she ordered a special drink instead, and raved about it the whole night long. She's taking all of her friends now. Order what you know you like, and once you've got your trust established in the chef, try some different things in the menu. The pernil is good, Cuban sandwiches, rice and beans, arroz con Pollo, everything has been excellent. Try the Cafe con Leche with flan. So good. My mama makes Flan d'Hortensia, Mexican style. So it's not mama's flan, but it's still very good 🙌🏽 And I almost forgot. The green salsa 😍 amazing. I don't know if this is right to do, but I even put it on my salad. A simple green salad becomes...
