We usually go into Anderson or Greenville for sushi but I was too lazy to drive there tonight so we decided to go to Tokyo. The food is ok and service is usually pretty good.
When a couple goes out to dinner, they expect to eat together. Well, this was not the case at Tokyo. My wife ordered a dinner and I ordered a roll. Ten minutes later the waiter brings soup and salad for my wife. Another ten or so minutes pass and the waiter picks up the dirty dishes. He returns shortly thereafter with my wife’s dinner. OK, I sometimes have to wait for the waiter to return with my roll but tonight was exceptional. My wife finished her entire dinner and I was still sitting there with no roll. Any apology from the waiter; no, he was clueless.
Totally unacceptable!
I don’t blame the waiter, I blame management. Obviously the wait staff has not been properly trained. I relayed my dissatisfaction to the waiter who just stood there, providing excuses. I’m here to eat a proper dinner and not listen to excuses. I ask for the manager.
Moments later a young girl appears and I ask, are you the manager. She said, “yes”. She then says, “you asked to see a manager”? As if she has no clue what the problem is. I advise her and she immediately goes into defense mode explaining how they have two different kitchens and provides nothing but excuses! I immediately interrupter and say, I don’t care how many kitchens you have, I’m not interested in excuses; we're here to eat a proper meal. I never received my roll as I told them to cancel it and bring a check as my wife was finished. Can you believe that! Rather than offer some form of satisfaction, the manager just glares and walks away. This is total incompetence. She has no business being a “manager”.
Any professional restaurant manager would have immediately apologized and never offered up excuses. A professional establishment would normally ask, how can we make this right, sir. The meal should have been on the house for their incompetence and for ruining our meal. Clueless and unprofessional. Your manager needs training and a lot of it as does your wait staff.
P.S. Tell the real management they need to clean the dust off the wood surrounding and on top of some of the booths and to especially clean the windows, both inside and...
Read moreHibachi chicken was way overcooked, dry and tough. I needed three glasses of tea just to try to get the chicken down. Since I was treating my aunt for her birthday for an evening meal, I didn't want to make a scene to embarrass her or the chef since he was cooking for 6 of us at the hibachi table. They were very busy with a lot of people waiting so I paid my $49 bill (before tip) for the two of us and decided I'd just handle it in a discreet respectable way by calling the restaurant manager when I got home. They didn't answer their phone and I called multiple times throughout the next day with no answer until finally at 5 pm someone answered. However, "Miss Lee" owner of the restaurant refused to do anything about it, not even an apology. She took the attitude of "too bad and I don't care". I still had the chicken in a takeout container to bring to back to them and all I asked for was the chicken to be replaced which take out would have been fine. Obviously these oriental people have no clue how to treat customers here in the U.S. and I understand the frustration most people have them. In this case, the owner Lee could care less about providing good service and a good product. It was my first time at this place and the last. I will NOT recommend them to anyone and will never bring family or friends to this place ever again. For the money, it was very lacking. The salad was chintzy, the "soup" was just flavored water with nothing in it, the fried rice didn't have any carrots or peas and barely any egg in it. They don't take pride in there product and if you get something bad, go ahead and make a scene to get it taken care of on the spot otherwise they'll just blow you off. Forget being tactful with these people as it doesn't work! The leftover chicken wound up in my dogs bowl even he choked on it. I've had better food at Panda Express for a 1/3 of the price! Go somewhere else and save your money. Not...
Read moreI enjoyed dinner here on a Friday night. The restaurant was super busy so there was a bit of a wait. Once seated, Makayla who had served me once in the past remembered that I was gluten free. We placed our order- ordering only off the sushi menu and everything came out and was delicious. Even though the restaurant was incredibly busy the sushi chefs did not allow their quality of product to drop. Makayla took great care of our table while we were waiting and was a super pleasant server. There was a roll that was to be made without sauce due to my being gluten free and she caught that it had sauce before bringing the roll to the table and informed me that they were going to remake the roll. Most of the time servers do not pay close attention to ensure order accuracy with something “so trivial” as sauce so I was definitely impressed, especially considering the volume of customers in the restaurant. I will say if you want a quick dinner on a Friday night this is not the place to go- but otherwise if you are up for waiting definitely go and enjoy a wonderful sushi experience with...
