I rarely eat fast food but when I do and want a burger, I always go to cookout. I've been to this one several times and never had a problem but this time was a complete waste of my time and money and it was extremely obvious that nobody in that kitchen gave a crap about what I went home with. The bun on the burger was so stale that I'm convinced it sat out on a counter after closing the night before and they just decided to use it anyway. The hush puppies were cold, I couldn't even finish one. And my already tiny cup of Coleslaw was only halfway full and had no sauce that i could see or taste. It was just Cabbage and only 3 bites of it. After throwing most of my meal away, I was at least excited to eat my banana pudding shake later, as it's one of my favorite indulgences. But I just started eating it and it's almost totally plain ice cream with a few pieces of banana scattered in. No vanilla wafers or pieces of them. I dug all the way to the bottom. Nothing. This was a TERRIBLE experience and meal and if these are now the standards being held at this location, I will drive all the way to easley from now on to avoid ever being so disappointed on one of the couple meals a month that I don't cook myself because of finances. Thank you for making what should have been a treat to myself into a huge disappointment and regret at having wasted money on such a terrible meal that left me still hungry. And even managing to ruin dessert. I ALWAYS get the same thing so I know exactly what I missed out on tonight. Not cool. Not a happy customer anymore. Not enjoying my favorite shake. You have one job cookout employees, serve the food as it should be. You failed miserably today. On every single item. **Update: ONE VANILLA WAFER. At the VERY bottom. All the rest all the way down, plain ice cream with maybe 10 bites that even had a piece of banana in it. With a COUPLE bites at the end that tasted like it should have the entire way through. It's like they went out of their way to mess up every single thing in my order. Or were just too lazy to care at all. I couldn't enjoy even one part. I'm so glad I went out of my way to treat myself today. I may as well have just come home and flushed $12 down the toilet and made my own dinner instead. I think I'd be less unhappy right now. At least I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up for nothing. I definitely didn't deserve to be served such a sorry excuse for a meal. Really ruined...
Read moreI have mixed emotions about this place. Food is inconsistent except for their wonderful milkshakes with oodles of flavours. When cooked right, not overly cooked almost to the point of being burnt or not cooked in old grease that needs to be replaced, the hushpuppies are great but you stand about a 50/50 chance of getting some that are edible. The onion rings, on the other hand, are awesome as well as the cheeseburgers. Corn dogs are so-so.
When they first opened a few years back, everything was great. No complaints. Not to mention, the prices are very reasonable. However, the newness has worn off and they have slipped.
In addition to all of this, recently, they had a teenage employee get killed in a tragic car accident just a couple of days before Thanksgiving. Now, I'm not sure how they handled it internally or with the parents; however, the McDonald's just a few restaurants down from them changed their sign at the road to say something like "Pray for Dylan's family." That speaks volumes and he didn't even work there. The Cookouts' sign had something like "Eggnog milkshake coming in December." Keep in mind, this restaurant has Bible verses on their cups which is great and I'm a Christian but why didn't they honour their own employee by changing their sign.
I eat at McDonald's more now just for...
Read moreThe food is fresh and hot. The service is typically kind, courteous and efficent. It is approximately 6.99 per 'plate' or tray. That is for a complete meal, main choice, two sides and your drink is included. Several combinations, from burgers, chicken, hot dogs, corn dogs, and my fav, which I scoffed at initially, is the barbeque plate. Pulled bbq pork , with Texas Pete and slaw atop. ( Dont knock it til you try it!) are available. Dont forget to ask for the infamous Cook Out sauce! ( Cheese bites and that sauce are heavenly! Milkshakes custom made with tons of options.. Indoor/ outdoor seating. Finally, if you have driven by, and chose not to stop because of the long line, go back! There is two lanes and typically, the wait time is not as bad as it looks. The interior has recently been redone. Very nice. Just an added note for those of us who are...'old school' or visit Cookout a bit too much and a tad awkward about about showing my bare a@@ to others....the restrooms have also been redone. However, it seems they opted for a more 'community' feel, as the toilets are there, but, no wall or border in between .. so, its a bit odd, despite our male counterparts having shared urination sessions for years. I give...
