Update: 2/12/22-7am..The manager James is very kind. He understood my feelings!! I appreciate his care and concern. Due to mr. James I have changed my rating from a 1 start to a 5 start!! Original post: On 2/12/22 I visited the location in Clearmont, FL in the Hamhock Village. I believe that the poor service we received from Caleb was fueled by racism. It was around 1am in the morning on my birthday. I came alongside my 15yr old daughter. We walked in and there were no more than four tables and 1 person at the bar, I was happy that it wasn’t a large crowd. We sat in the front in the chairs meant for waiting to be seated. We waited for apx 20 mins; however, it was all good Bc we were not in a rush. I believe we would’ve waited longer if another party didn’t walk in to be seated when they did. This party is white and I am Black. Caleb then says to me, “you can sit over there.” He said it as if we were ignorant for waiting and not seating ourselves. I’ve always waited to be seated whenever I visit any other Waffle House, so if the process is different at this location I am unaware. Then he comes to the table and hand us our menus and says “do you know what you are having?”.. no greeting, just plan and dry. I said, “we will start with something to drink.” I ordered a coffee. My coffee was bathwater temperature, that’s how I described it to my daughter in a joking manner. I did not complain. After he brings us our drinks he stands at the table looking at his notepad appearing to wait for our order, so we order. Our food comes out fast, which pleases me. He hands us our plates then walks away. We weren’t given any condiments, so we wait our turn to ask. I see the ketchup, so I get it but there’s no syrup in my vicinity. He walks by, I ask for the syrup. He places it on the table and walk away. I notice there was no butter on the waffles or on the table, so we wait again. The wait is getting long and he’s nearby so I say excuse me.” No response, so I call out to him again thinking he couldnt hear me. No response. I call again, no response. So I stand up and say excuse me. He says “what?” I say can we have some butter?. He says it will be a few minutes.I say for butter? He says yes! End result, we leave not...
Read moreWe frequently go here but now we am rethinking about returning after tonight. When we arrived we sat at a booth that had just been cleaned, but they left the rag on the table. I assumed the server would take it but she did not. She gave us burnt old coffee, took our order then disappeared. Another server dropped off the food and pretended she didn't see the dirty rag. I had to ask our server to remove it from the table since our food just arrived. The cook burned the bacon, severely over cooked sunnyside up eggs, and the waffle was under cooked. The server didn't even come by the table to see how the food was. By the time she came to the table, we caved in and just ate the food. She asked if we were done, we said yes but she didn't remove the plates from the table. when we asked for the check she walked away and sat down at the other end of the restaurant. I guess she didn't hear due to the music being so loud and/or being constantly on the phone. The other server was eating her food while doing her silverware, and nobody washed their hands once! Our server barely had her mask on the whole 3 times we saw her. Aside from this there were several other sanitation violations that we noticed and were not happy about in the slightest. We are very disappointed to have had...
Read moreWe came to this location on 5/23/21 since we were in the area but we live 1.5 hours away. I am trying to figure out how our bill came to $65 for four people, two being kids. I'm starting to think the server over charged us. I should have looked over the bill better and taken a picture of both it and the menu. We ordered 3 All Stars, 1 with a pecan waffle, a 2 egg breakfast (2 eggs, hashbrowns and biscuit), sausage gravy, double order of hashbrowns- All the way, 2 teas, 1 soda and 1 Oj. Waffle house really needs to get with the times and get a better order and ticket system. With the server having to call out the orders and the cooks having to remember the whole order there's to much room for error. We even didnt get all our food. Plus it would help customers be able to understand their bill and not have to figure out what the server wrote. My daughter never got her waffle and we ended up finally getting it to-go. The server was nice and all but the only one that seemed to be serving while the other two did other things, so she was all over the place but never checked on us after delivering our food. The food was good and had I not had the above issues with the bill not adding up to me and the missing waffle I would have rated it...
