The First Watch They say breakfast should be the first meal of the day but at The First Watch, breakfast lasts til closing at 2:30pm. They’re open 7 days a week, starting at 7am. This was my first time to the First Watch, which might make you think of Game of Thrones but I guarantee the food at the restaurant is more amazing than the series stuff. This particular morning we opted for the Hash Skillet with the market garden: Two cage-free eggs any style atop fresh, seasoned potatoes, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, zucchini, shallots, red peppers, baby spinach, melted Mozzarella and herbed Goat cheese. Served with our whole grain artisan toast. My boyfriend love his Hash Skillet and it was a huge helping. In the menu they had Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with seasonal berries and a creamy lemon curd. I asked for blueberries in the pancakes because lemon and blueberry go hand in hand. The lemon curd was sensational and lemony unlike some curds that fall short of flavor. That was not the case this time. Plus taking a bite with blueberry pancake and a forkful of lemon curd and you have the ultimate flavor combo. That staff were invited and very attentive! 5/5 for the food, ambience and staff. If you’re visiting Clermont, Florida this is the place to eat for breakfast! The next try on the menu will be the blueberry lemon cornbread.
2025/01/24 Today we had the Floridian French Toast and the Raspberry Ricotta French Toast and they both were amazing. The Raspberry Ricotta is made of Challah bread with what tasted like whipped fluffy ricotta and raspberry glaze and fresh raspberries and gingerbread cookie crumble. The Floridian French Toast is made with brioche bread with fresh banana, kiwi and strawberries with a warm blueberry compote that was warm. We also had a side of turkey sausage Which I must say was great, and I don’t eat sausage but tried this one and I shall eat it again. We also had the seasoned potatoes and they were like having them made at home. Can’t go wrong with the food nor service at...
Read moreWe showed up unannounced mid-week at 9:30 and were seated immediately. I hadn't even a second to look at the menu, and my coffee cup had been filled. Amazing! For coffeeholics, they will leave the carafe on the table for your pleasure. The interior is nothing too special. The restaurant employs an exposed ductwork ceiling. However, the wood floors add a warmth to the industrial look.
There is a standard menu and a smaller seasonal menu. My wife had her favorite breakfast item from the standard menu, Eggs Benedict, with a side of fruit. I ran with the Steak and Bacon Breakfast Burrito from the seasonal menu.
Our food arrived in a short time. While simple meals, the presentation was excellent. The breakfast burrito was covered with a hollandaise on one half and an el pastor sauce on the other half. On top was avocado covered by a pickled red onion rosette and topped with a light dusting of cojita cheese. I asked to hold the cilantro. As this burrito is served wet, it's easier to eat with a fork and knife.
My wife enjoyed her Eggs Benedict, although she did mention the hollandaise sauce as being a bit bland. I savored every bite of my burrito, favoring the spicier el pastor seasoned side. This was a wonderful meal to start our day with. The service was excellent. Both hostess and server were warm and friendly, and...
Read moreI have been here three or four times now and the food and service has always been consistent and good. However, the service this past time was seriously lacking. Our server took our order and never gave us water, I understand everyone is human and people forget things, but she never returned to our table after our food was dropped off for us to be able to ask for water. I eventually had to ask for it from a different server after we had finished our meal because she never returned to our table. The other server informed her and she came to our table to ask us if we wanted water to-go and we said we wanted water to drink now we haven't had any yet, but we would like to-go boxes, after which she brought us water and a single to-go box for 4 people and walked away. I didn't have the patience to track someone else down for more to-go boxes. She was polite during what little interaction we had but she was not very good at her job that day and its not a good experience when you can't enjoy your meal because you have to keep looking around to see if your server is coming, and what made it even more frustrating is that it was a Mother's Day breakfast we had planned, hoping to get a more relaxed experience celebrating a day early and...
