Wasn't a fan of anything here really. Staff didn't acknowledge a new customer! I know this place has their regulars quite a few actually! So after being told drive out there you'll love it. I'm very disappointed. I don't live close to this place. So I drove into Cleveland specifically to try they're empanadas and rice. Parking was a little weird small lot in the front dirt lot to the side and street parking. OK, I did like that part. Walked in got in line and wait wait wait.... There where two ladies working behind the counter chatting with one another and the other customer still not acknowledging me. He finished getting his stuff moved on to pay and the lady walked right past me still not acknowledging me! She just put her head down and walk away! I should have walked right out the door but I was hungry and didn't want to drive back to rocky river with nothing. So I stayed and finally ordered. So I asked about pricing on their rice and empanadas. This lady starts talking to me like I don't understand that they are priced separately. I get it lady. Thank you. When I finally got my food I was thinking this better be good! It was terrible! The rice was ok I guess but the empanadas awful. It was just mush in a breadlike turnover. The shells where bread like the meat that they say is beef. Not sure if it is. Didn't taste like it. It literally looking like baby poo wrapped in bread! But I guess some people like that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThough the ladies servicing the food were very nice and attempted to remediate the solution, sadly the food quality just didnāt make it. We purchased empanadillas de queso y carne and honestly, we couldnāt eat them. We had told one of the employees that the empanadilla seemed to have scrambled egg inside and given the time we went (early morning), we assumed they had given us a breakfast type of empanadilla. The lady explained that what we believed to be egg was cheese and offered to make fresh ones. Upon getting the fresh made ones, the empanadillas once again had cheese that had a scrambled egg like consistency and had an overpowering taste of vinegar in the meat. Sadly, none of us could enjoy this taste and texture and tossed the empanadillas in the trash. We tried to be optimistic as we had also purchased two combination plates (one with yellow rice, beans, and pernil and the other with white rice, beans, and bean stew. The beef stew and pernil were good, however the beans were a true let down as they had no color or flavor and had an odd taste that I canāt quite pinpoint. In summary, it was sad to have this experience in a place that has been such a staple known for good Puertorican food in the Clark/Fulton community for so many years. I truly hope this review can sponsor some look into this, as the food I tasted on that day was far from what I would call good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOMG!! I cannot get enough of this place! The food is absolutely delicious! I've had the chicken with yellow rice and beans which was juicy and flavorful. The beans were salty and laden with chunks of pork and are the perfect combination with the perfectly cooked yellow rice. I've also had the beef and its delicious. Portions come in two sizes small or large. I always get the large which is $10.00 age is enough for two meals. I love plantains and always get a large side of them to go. They rarely make it home because the entire car ride back from Caribe is spent weaving through traffic and eating the hot, sweet, and almost chewy plantains. I had the rice pudding which was good but I'll never leave again without a tresc leches cake. It was sweet and milky with a delicious not overly sweet whipped topping and lots of cinnamon. I haven't tried any other dessert options but there are a lot of them that vary depending on the day. The staff is super friendly and service is fast. All the food is premade and served cafeteria style but it's always fresh because it's so good it never stays under the heat lamps...
