Very disheartened. I was happy to try this place on my daughter's recommendation. I placed my order online and was told my order would be ready in about 40 minutes. I got there and didn't realize I was walking into a bar to pick up my food. No problem. I stood at the end of the bar waiting for someone to approach me and it took about 4 minutes. Wouldn't have been an issue but it was not busy except maybe 3 young ladies sitting at the actual bar. Saw one guy at the register and then a lady finally said something to me after playing with a remote for a minute and talking to the ladies at the bar. She told me she tried to call me to let me know my order was running behind and that it would be another 15 minutes...ok, no worries. I come back and it's still not ready. Waited another 8 minutes and finally got it. Got home and the first thing I noticed was the plantains missing out of all the dinners even when their menu says online they are included in most dinners. Not one of ours had them. My daughter had salmon and says her dinner tasted ok. I shrimp which were extremely overcooked andy husband had stewed chicken but it was mixed with pork and we don't eat pork! The flavors were good in my dinner but my husband had to find something else to eat that night. Needless to say we were VERY...

When you get there, make sure you order extra food to take home. We were in Cleveland for a few days and we came back every single day. We ordered additional food for our trip home. We ate Carolyn's cooking for five days straight and were utterly satisfied.
My wife, who is Trinidadian, found this place in a search for Trinidadian food in Cleveland. Everything we ate was absolutely fantastic and freshly made! This is authentic Trinidadian food, made by hand, by Carolyn.
One of the best rotis (buss-up-shot) you can find outside of Trinidad and Tobago. Other than roti, we had doubles, jerk chicken, curry chicken, aloo pie, and all the sides.
Her jerk was perfection! Her homemade pepper sauce was excellent - very flavorful, not burning hot. Our leftovers tasted great reheated. The bara, and the roti didn't become leathery, so you know it's good. The chana wasn't watery or lose any of its flavor. The aloo was also flavorful.
If we find ourselves within a hour drive of Cleveland again, we will definitely make the trip back...
Read moreCarolyn’s food is on a higher level. The food finds its home as a true comfort food through the staff’s clear mastery of spices.
You can tell that the staff has put their heart and soul into this restaurant, and their food’s quality speaks for itself. It’s that type of place that if I ever left Cleveland, I would want to go out of my way to snag food from this place again and again and again. The menu is truly worth the pilgrimage.
It’s weird for me to consider the home made hot sauce the star of my meal, especially when the meat is handled with a clear mastery of spices, but the sauce had a bright freshness— far too many hot sauces lean on crazy levels of vinegar acidity or salt to enhance the flavor. The perfect sauce to compliment the delicious fattiness of those Oxtails.
Quality ingredients being done right with hearty portions— reasonably priced given the portion sizes (and the depth of flavor in every bite). Buckle up, get the Oxtails. Take a break, then get more Oxtails. The Curried Goat, Jerk Chicken, and Cabbage are all unreal— blown away by what the chef’s did...
