Rolled into downtown Cleveland in search of coffee after taking a jaunt through the mountain roads to take in Autumn. I wasn't really sure what to expect from a tiny little storefront attached to a strip mall that seemingly was just big enough to stand inside. Turned out to be a real hidden gem.
I'm a little surprised at how few reviews FHC gets given how many customers kept rolling in while I was waiting around for my cappucchino (which by the way was the best I've ever had.) I asked the super-friendly lady at the counter if there was a place I could wash my hands. She directed me to the other hidden gem -- Farmhouse Coffee Commons. It's a nondescript black facade in another building entirely that you have to cross the street to get to.
I went inside only to discover what was epic seating availability, wifi, clean restrooms, and great tufted leather sofas. It was beautifully appointed like it came out of a Magnolia television show. I ended up staying around, enjoying my coffee and flipping through their coffee table books. What was going to be a quick stop ended up being a real highlight of the afternoon.

Read moreI was in the area on a sisters trip the weekend this shop opened. We were waiting in the car for a table in a neighboring restaurant on Friday night. The group of men working so diligently to prepare the shop intrigued us. They told us the Grand Opening would be the next morning from 10 to 1. We all agreed to come and try it out. We had a small business meeting on Saturday morning that sadly lasted until 1:00. As we drove thru the square we saw a line still waiting to get into the coffee shop. We got in the line. Found a table of Tee shirts advertising the opening. We all bought one. The family (mom, dad & 2 teen aged sons) worked together so well under the pressure of such a long line. Also grandmother was hovering in the corner entertaining the waiting customers with family stories. We were so glad we did not miss this experience. Also the drinks were perfectly perpared! We...

On a drive from Dahlonega to Helene in Georgia, my husband and I decided to take some back roads that took us through a small town square;the kind that is centered around an old courthouse. We noticed a coffee shop on one of the corners. Of course we had to stop!
Farmhouse Coffee is a small building connected to a row of other businesses. The shop has minimal decor with very little merchandise for sale. There is no indoor seating, but honestly…with such a quaint, historic and relaxing town square why would you want to sit indoors. We enjoyed our coffee outside in the morning sun while people watching.
Thank God for small owns.
Enjoying life one...
