I called the sales lady that the website gives instructions to call for large catering orders 24 hours in advance (mind you their website says they don’t have to have advance notice you can still order) and placed an order, gave her all the information and asked for delivery. She advised me that she would have to call back to let me know if they can deliver it and if I could pay for Oxtails. I called her back 5 hours later to see if she found out yet and she said not yet. I called back 3 hours later and she said she was working it out with the catering staff and I gave her my work email so she could send me the invoice. She called back later after hours and I was not working which was unprofessional. The next morning I started calling at 8:30am to confirm that she put the order in that I gave her because I still hadn’t received the invoice. There was no answer. My coworkers began calling also and got no answer. She finally answered at 11:08am and my delivery was for 11:30am sounding half sleep. She said she never put the order in!!! After I told her my order the day before at 11:30 AM!!!! I had a whole line shop full of people waiting for the food only to find out she didn’t do her job!!!! Then she told me to call catering myself to see if they could get the order but that’s her job per the website! I called catering and they said they couldn’t fill the order because she didn’t put the order in 24 hours prior ALTHOUGH THE WEBSITE SAYS NO PRIOR NOTICE FOR CATERING IS NECESSARY! Wow this whole situation was disgusting and unprofessional. And they’re lying on the details of their website by saying you don’t need prior notice, but the sad part is I placed my order 24 hours beforehand and called back several times and it was never put in. This was absolutely ridiculous I wish I could rate them negative 5 stars and I will tell everyone I know not...
Read moreMy recent visit to Irie Kitchen left me with mixed feelings after trying their oxtail bowl. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. The oxtail itself was undercooked, which was a letdown considering the desired tenderness and rich flavors that this dish is known for. The meat lacked the desired fall-off-the-bone texture and left me wishing for a more well-executed preparation.
Adding to my disappointment, the accompanying sauce had an unpleasant resemblance to canned gravy. It lacked the depth and homemade touch that one expects from a quality oxtail sauce. The taste was rather generic and failed to enhance the flavors of the dish.
It's important to note that Irie Kitchen is known for its Caribbean cuisine, and I had high hopes for their oxtail based on their reputation. However, the undercooked meat and lackluster sauce left me questioning the attention to detail in their kitchen when it comes to this specific dish.
On a positive note, I must commend the service at Irie Kitchen. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and provided a welcoming atmosphere throughout my visit. However, the subpar execution of the oxtail dish overshadowed the positive aspects of the service.
I sincerely hope that Irie Kitchen takes this feedback into consideration and works on improving their oxtail dish. With some adjustments and more careful attention to cooking times and flavor profiles, they have the potential to create a truly exceptional oxtail experience.
In conclusion, based on my disappointing experience with undercooked oxtail and a lackluster sauce, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend Irie Kitchen for those seeking a satisfying oxtail dish. However, I encourage them to explore a more authentic Caribbean flavor as their Caribbean cuisine may still hold other delightful surprises. I don’t see myself...
Read moreFriday December 15, 2023 around 5-6pm After a long hard day, my Jamaican boyfriend and I decided to grab a bite to eat. Upon entry, As we approach the food assembly, the food service girl (young lady with glasses) had a nasty attitude. No smiling, didn’t assist us on picking a meal as we decided, scowling, rolled her eyes Everytime my boyfriend said something (Jamaican accent), kept sighing. I mean her attitude was horrible. Lacked customer service 100%. Meanwhile, waiting on my Rasta Pasta, as she tells me the wait time (5-10min), as if she wanted me to change my mind, I obliged. Time goes, order other food. So my pasta comes out and she puts on it a protein I NEVER MENTIONED. Oh, that pissed her off. She was really huffing and puffing. She argued with me stating that’s what I chose. I’m smiling at her telling her to calm down, why are you being mean, where’s the customer service. I took the order plus the meat i wanted because she intimidated me in a way. I’m presuming because she got the order wrong and that they would have to remake the order. Then she got the cook in the back for whatever odd reason. My boyfriend paid for her mistake plus some. The cashier was super professional and smiled the entire time. The cook that was hiding in the back was professional and kind. But that wicked likkle gal in the food assembly line needs a reality check. Treat customers kind. Never bring your bad day to your place of employment. Will I come back? Hell naw! As long as the girl is assembling the food, I’ll go to another yard that...
