Penn Station East Coast Subs — Restaurant in Cleveland

JEFF OSTERFELD should come in 10 more minutes before closing and see exactly what's going on in his establishments. Trash EVERYWHERE on the floor and the counter where they're making your food. Morale is extremely low. No one covers their hair or their beard. 2 people have on a Penn station hat, at the time no 1 had on a name tag and 1 guy had on a red manager shirt. (Or what I assumed to be at manager's shirt because he was actually the most professional out of all of them.) The few times I've been in there and actually have seen someone wearing a name tag,. It clearly states their nickname (things like "Mo" and "Des".) Name tags are so when you mess up, you can be reported; or if you do a good job they know who to tell the manager to praise. But due to the fact that no one in this store would be getting any praises, I'm sure they wear no name tags to avoid being reported. They should at least be wearing "Penn Station " shirts, hats, aprons and name tags like they do in the more affluent neighborhoods. I haven't seen any of them have one all of the above at the same time and I barely see anyone wearing a name tag at all. Used. To be 5 star, now if I could rate it any lower than one I definitely would. The Steelyard was built on toxic land, so the whole area is just dilapidated and deteriorating and just overall grungy. This restaurant is a reflection of the demographic in the area and that's mostly low income people of color on the east and low income whites to the west. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Almost forgot, waiting times are atrocious. NEVER less than 15 minutes,today was closer to 30. If you complain the manager will say that " Online orders take precedence" or some BS like that. The only person that ever greeted me in 3 years was "Lee Lee" (that's LITERALLY what the name tag said,even though it should reflect the name on your STATE IDENTIFICATION) she was a sweet heart, she was professional and attentive (even though her blonde hombre hair wasn't covered, nor did she have one any other indicator that she worked at Penn station, at least she had on a name tag, which was more than I could say for 3 of the other workers at that moment). I got the chicken Philly special. Sandwich was tasty but the fries were mushy and undercooked. They were the worst fries I’ve seen anywhere. There were only 2 people working and the problem was that they were too overworked to cook the fries right. They are overworked, underpaid, and have an attitude. But they got their bad attitude from somewhere, and that source has to be the result of bad management who either can or won’t motivate them.

I’m saving my sharpest criticisms for the management, though. My bad experience could have been entirely prevented if the management were competent. They need to hire more staff, and they clearly can afford to do that based on the prices they’re charging. I doubt that management would even care as long as they can get the cheapest labor they can find while making overpriced sandwiches and pocketing the money. I ordered 2 10” philly cheese steak sandwiches plus extra meat on both sandwiches. One with onions and banana peppers, it came with mushrooms I HATE mushrooms and I bit into one. The second sandwich was suppose to have mayo onions banana peppers and mushrooms HOWEVER it came loaded with onions more onions than meat no banana peppers no mushrooms. Let’s NOT mention it took us 30 mins to get our food while they stood there talking.
