Here's a sad work salad story, compliments of Carnegie SouperMarket:
I am a loyal SouperMarket customer going on 6 years. In the past few months, I have received brown, wilted, slimy, bitter tasting lettuce in my salads. It was obviously old or in the freezer too long. I don't like going out of my way to complain, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. After the third incident which involved spoiled looking lettuce, I decided to call. I explained my case in an extremely polite manner and made it obvious that I enjoyed the establishment, but felt compelled to speak up.
I was told I was flat out incorrect - that there was nothing wrong with the lettuce and it was cut fresh that morning. I insisted even if the lettuce WAS cut fresh, there is DEFINITELY something wrong when it looks bad, feels bad and tastes bad. I was then told that the salad is is a spring mix with naturally occurring red lettuce. I told them I am aware of which pieces are meant to be red (not brown) and that the romaine was BROWN and the natural red pieces were slimy. I sent them the attached picture, to no avail. The lettuce in the picture was just a small sample of what was found throughout the salad.
To get to the point, I was told the only way to refund my money was to have me take another 35 minutes from my lunch break (which is only an hour), and return the salad. I would then be cutting into my work day (not doable) and out a lunch. Have they never handed out coupons for free soup or salad ever before? Discounts? Anything? AGAIN - all of this may have escaped a bad review except for the extremely rude management on the other end of the phone. I was told "this is how life works" and that he "can't just give money away" while he actually chuckled. The manager was SO rude, he actually, at one point, "apologized" for being rude. Needless to say, they've lost a loyal customer because of their follow-up actions. It's 2019, learn some decent customer service,...
Read moreI usually don’t take the time to write reviews unless something is actually really impressive or really horrible because ALL businesses should be meeting quality standards which is an expectation! However, my first time visiting this place today and the food is AMAZING! My green apple salad was very fresh and the salad dressing was very good! Tastes homemade! Even the cherry tomatoes were sliced in half for easier eating! My potato and Swiss soup was so very hearty and filling! Will be back again and again. My only complaint was that the guy taking my order wasn’t too friendly…maybe he was having a bad day. I won’t reach as to say I got a vibe that he’s not racial tolerant…I’ll just assume he was overworked. However my checkout guy with the awesome Rolling Stones belt...
Read moreWe live near this location and have loved it since we first tried it! Now it is a main goto place for us and we are currently going through the menu each time we go to try new things and try as much of the menu as we prefer. Yesterday we got the chicken noodle and chicken paprikash I think it’s called? The bread is amazing! We always get extra! It’s super clean and organized inside. Nice vibes. The people are super personable and friendly too! This is actually the main warehouse where they cook all of the soup that the other locations get there’s from! The parking is great, and if you haven’t been here yet, this is your sign to check this place out! 20/10...
