I come here infrequently, just once yearly for medial reasons. The hotel is very decent, and room amenities what anyone would need. The front staff are kind and welcoming and this place is sparkling clean. ||Unfortunately the restaurant is not what it once was. It has never been four star, just a reliable place in a hotel to avoid walking to the only two fast food places nearby but something has happened there and it needs attention. The first night I had dinner there the server was very sweet and attentive and the food was barely edible. I ordered a meatloaf that required many additions of salt and pepper to get through even half of it. The mashed potatoes seemed to be the kind from a box. The green beans were OK. No bread and butter with the 30.00 meal. I paid and decided it was my fault for ordering something I was unfamiliar with. ||The next morning, I went for the "free" breakfast as part of my reservation. The server was friendly enough, and spilled coffee when pouring it, kind of cleaned it up, but not really, and then left the rest. I ordered the two eggs cooked any way with chicken sausage. The poached eggs were fine on whole what (unbuttered). The chicken sausage inedible, like really awful. No fruit, no potatoes no anything else with this plate. ||I had dinner somewhere else that night, came back to the hotel and went to the bar to order a glass of wine to take up to my room. Stood around for a long time, then someone else came behind me and we both stood around for a long time. Then a server asked us if we were waiting on someone and came to help us. The bartender showed up shortly after carrying a meal to serve someone. All this understandable if there had been a crowd, but we were almost the only people in the entire establishment. ||The next morning I went for my next "free" breakfast. Again, only 2-3 tables had diners. I was seated at a table where someone had obviously just left because the hostess removed the paid check off the table. There were droplets of spilled milk (likely coffee creamer) on the table that were never cleaned up. I stared at them through my entire meal. Ordered coffee and that came quickly, but never received a spoon and then waited a long time for the pancakes and a side of berries. After a time, my coffee cup was empty and stayed that way until after my food came, which took a long time. When being served I asked for more coffee and she brought me a decanter. This was the only meal I got while here that was tasty -- apple cinnamon pancakes and a large bowl of very fresh berries. I was thrilled. There was even butter for my pancakes and I took the rest of the berries with me when I left that day. ||This is too consistently subpar food and service for me. The restaurant did not used to be that way .If there were a dearth of staff on hand or something it might have made sense but there were often staff present kind of standing around. I am not going back to this hotel but will possibly use the more expensive Intercontinental hotel I have also stayed with, or maybe go to a different hotel chain next time. Sorry folks, this was just not up to standard and really it was the restaurant that needs the attention. Everything else was...
Read moreLack of organization and an overall general lack of concern was apparent during this trip to InterContinental Suites Hotel Cleveland. This was our third visit to this hotel, which normally meets/exceeds expectations.
First, Joshua at the front desk was fantastic during our check-in. He represents what the InterContinental brand should be striving to achieve. Excellent care from him was given at our check-in. Thank you for that!
Unfortunately, after check-in, the remainder of our stay was less than expected. The dining staff was less than attentive at C2. Food was decent though.
We had a busy Saturday planned and were coming and going quite regularly. Several valet folks working and some were attentive. Others lacked any concern that we were waiting (took a trip to the desk more than once to get somebody to come out and obtain the car). It often took over ten minutes to get our car and well over twenty when we checked out on Sunday. I understand that calling down ahead of time is a better option but it shouldn't take that amount of time when we are paying what is basically a required valet. We were explained other options for parking by the valet staff when we checked in and it almost seemed encouraged from the valet staff not to use the valet service...Strange.
We did not have house keeping service our room due to our busy schedule of coming and going. We did call down to the front desk on Saturday evening to obtain additional towels and toilet paper though. After multiple calls and being told items would be delivered, they were not. Had to call again the next day and after a few additional attempts, the correct items were delivered.
We stayed in room 315 and could not get the room to cool off. The heat made it very uncomfortable in the room. Thankfully, our windows opened a small amount and we were able to get some cool air in right next to the window but it did not help in the evening. Looking back, we should have requested to move rooms.
Overall, the value of the hotel has gone down over the last three years. We enjoyed staying here until this year and made it a December tradition to stay here for our trips to Cleveland. I think for our trip to Cleveland next December, we will explore...
Read morePros: Great location for Cleveland Clinic appointments, on main roads so easy to get almost anywhere. Suite rooms great for extra room- we usually stay in a standard room in the sister Intercontinental but having a suite for a longer stay when we were snowed in was perfect.. Fridge, microwave, dining table, sitting room. Great smelling shampoo/soap.Valet guys were super friendly.
Cons; NO dishes, no cutlery, none of the basics that would allow you to use the kitchen appliances. We got room service one night and kept the plate but housekeeping took it away. The only service ware were 2 water glasses and 2 coffee mugs.
Noise at night- there was some weird low noise that was constantly present in our room. The first night I thought it was someone's alarm in a distant room that had been left unattended. It's constant and rhythmic, sounds like an HVAC noise. We used a white noise app on successive nights which worked pretty well.
RESTUARANT!! We went down for breakfast once. Waited more than 15 minutes for coffee, which was the worst we had ever tasted. One of us got the buffet but there were no plates or bowls on it. Ended up using a platter that had held some rolls that were gone for his plate. He got the last of the juice and we watched while we sat there as everything on the buffet emptied out and was never replenished. And there was still at least an hour before breakfast was supposed to end. One of us ordered from the menu, the host/waitress/busboy took the order, came back 3 times to ask what it was. More than 45 minutes after we had been seated it came out - and was wrong. Mix-up on the sides and the eggs had a weird, sweet flavor, like there was syrup in them. Buffet orderer was long since done so he just sat and watched me eat. They were severely short staffed, although one person kept walking around doing nothing like she was in a trance while the other lady hustled to do everything with no help at all. And it wasn't really all that busy (although too much for one person). Actually thought about warning the people waiting to be seated to go somewhere else, which we did for the rest of our stay. Maybe it was a one-off but I've been asked 3 times to give my feedback so...
