I didn't score the atmosphere because I've never actually been to Walt's! Strictly delivery... For me! This last order I have to admit I was really disappointed, however, I've been getting food from waltz as far back as the 80's and I never had a complaint before so please keep that in mind on this particular review!
So I ordered take out and it had been awhile since I ordered from waltz and I couldn't remember how big their servings were as every restaurant can have vast differences as to what a small hoagie is, right! Well I should have asked how small the small hoagie was compared to their large wich apparently is the average size 10" and the small maybe 6". So when I ordered a roast beef hoagie and the girl asked small or large, I was kinda thinking the sizes from Slacks Hoagies in Springfield (their sandwiches are huge, massive actually!) I think no one ever actually asked me what size hoagie I wanted in the past and was automatically given what Waltz considers as large...what I would call standard! Along with the hoagie I ordered a small onion pizza. The onions were long strips so when you'd bight into it the whole piece would slide off (my teeth aren't so good and don't cut into a sandwich or anything else so well anymore) next time is ask them to dice the onions for me, they wouldn't look as pretty but it would be easier to eat for this ol gal 🤷🏼♀️. So honestly the reason I wasn't so gungho about this order is that delivered with tip it cost 30$ for a 6" hoagie that even left me hungry and I usually can only eat 1/2 a hoagie at a time, and the small pizza... I don't know it all tasted fine it just wasn't much for 30$... Maybe I'm just cheep! That could be the...
Read moreI have lived in the area for almost twenty years and have been hoping that Walt's would change its pizza recipe. It has a prime location and could do really well if it invested in some market research and had a chef come up with a better pie. There is nothing special about the pie at all, sadly. I don't mean to offend the business owners, but I am rather trying to be honest and helpful. It is not good. One of things would be to set the crust apart from what is generic and typical in the area and spice up the sauce some. Anyway, here's hoping that one day I could order a Walt's Pizza Pie and start referring others. My review is solely based on the pizza. The wonders that could happen if this place stepped it up on the pies.
For points of reference, the best pizza places are as follows in no particular order: Leandro's Pizza House (mmm good), Imperial (awesome crust), Cocco's (ask for lighter cooked), Sciarrino's (only the one in Darby; it is hole in the wall, but real tasty), Gaetano's (amazing sauce!!! crust needs adjusting) and Johnny's Pizza (tasty pie place in Prospect Park). Maybe the owners can visit these place and see what is going on. My two cents for whatever it is worth. I still have to see a really good crust (if I could get a pie with Imperial's crust as it is very unique for the area, or maybe better, and Gaetano's sauce, it would...
Read moreWe ordered twice from Walt's, the first time we got the 18" square pizza with fries. The pizza was great but the French fries were a major disappointment. They give you maybe a handful of steak fries which is pretty pathetic for $3+. Anywhere else in the area you get a large order of fries for the same price.
We liked the pizza so much we decided to order again tonight. Of course we got pizza again but we also ordered a chick cheese steak hoagie, a cheese steak, fries and onion rings. Again, the pizza was great. No disappointment there. However the steaks were tasteless, nothing impressive and we could have done without. One thing I did not understand is the fact that they burnt our onion rings and still sent us burnt onion rings. Instead of making a new batch, they sent burnt food.
We will definitely be sticking with JUST pizza when ordering from Walt's. Unfortunately the rest of the food does not compare in taste...
