Barry's Bagel & Deli — Restaurant in Clifton

I will preface this review with stating I have been coming here for a few years now; the food is great and most employees here are very helpful, which is why I gave 4 stars. My only complaint is with the woman at the register, Isabella. She was not attentive at all and blatantly ignored me. When I had arrived I waited a few minutes before my order was taken; totally fine. As my order was being taken by another woman ( thank you), Isabella then came over to take a man’s order that arrived after me. Isabella then proceeded to ring up the man’s order, as well as 2-3 other men, that all arrived after me, even though I was standing right in front of the counter with my drink and my card out. She did not say one word to me and also proceeded to grab herself a nice cup of coffee and take a sip. When she finally came over to me she asked what I ordered, as if the other woman didn’t write the order down ? As she was processing my payment, she looked at me funny and asked if I was okay. I shook my head and told her I was wondering why she was willing to help all the men that arrived after me, and chose to ignore me. She asked if I had received my food, and I told her I did not, but all of the men didn’t receive their food either and she still rang them up. To which she responds with a smirk and says, “I was doing other things”.... If she were actually busy, and had she acknowledged me and stated she’d be over to help me in a bit, I would’ve been okay. Zero customer service skills from this woman. My first couple of experiences with her have not been great, but this really left me with a bad impression. Again, great food, but it seems unless you’re a man, Isabella won’t jump...

Customer service is retarded if your new customer. A crew of people work behind the counter and after you stand in line to make the order , no one is making your order! But they are busy making cream cheese bagels for the regulars that come in. It doesn't matter if they came before or after you! 3-4 people came after me and they got served speedy! There practice of hygiene is retarded too. This guy wears gloves on 1 hand only and touches all over the bagel with the other hand with no gloves! He could of picked his nose. Just went to bathroom etc!. I got my 2 bagels with cream cheese after 15 minutes. The taste of bagel is 5 out of 10. These guys I thought they would know how to provide great customer service since they are middle eastern and would want to treat others as they want to be treated. obviously NO! Someone else can do better job owning that business in that spot. 110% better job. I been to many bagel shops in tri state area and never had been...

Okay I’ve been coming here for a few months now so it’s time for a review. This is hands down the most consistent bagel spot I’ve ever been to. Some bagel places over-salt their everything bagels, and others burn their coffee and still others have home fries that taste awful.

Not this place.

Home fries? Delicious, CONSISTENTLY. Breakfast sandwiches? DELICIOUS, C O N S I S T E N T L Y. Bagels? PERFECTION, CONSISTENTLY. Coffee? 10/10 always would recommend. Now, mind you, I’ve been coming here for a couple of months now and I have not had a SINGLE breakfast taste off or wrong or not cooked properly. Amazing. Truly amazing.

The staff is sweet and friendly. They genuinely care about their patrons and their business and the place is clean and even the other customers are polite and awesome. The vibe in there is great, energetically speaking and overall I would highly recommend this bagel spot to anyone in the area looking for the best breakfast.
