This place has gone super downhill since I remember it. I have lived in Clifton my whole life and have frequented this establishment many many times. The last time I went I went with a buddy. We sat at the bar to have a few drinks and some dinner. The service was so awful that we ended up having one drink. No one ever came over to check on us we had an order of mussels to start expecting to order dinners after but after 30 minutes of waiting to be checked on we just decided there is no way we could stay here. I must mention we were the only two people there and there were five staff members sitting in a booth talking with each other playing with their phones. Today I went in for it to go order. I asked for sausage parm, and what a mistake that was. It was a big fiasco because they said all We have the sausage and peppers but they have meatball parm on the menu so I don't know why they couldn't just take the sausage and put it with marinara and mozzarella. After a few minutes they decided to comply and I still got peppers in it and a whole lot of grease. The only request I made after that was no bread because I'm dieting. The service is really bad. The food is not good and I think I got two pieces of sausage in this thing for $13. Go somewhere else. There's many Clifton restaurants that can use the business. Very unhappy and disappointed in what has happened to this Clifton icon.

Update: My Mom passed away 2 months after this photo. When I went back with my son to tell the owner and thank him for everything, he GAVE us the pie I had ordered to bring back to her house! (Had to empty and sell her house which has been done). Same experience of amazing staff, caring, and the pie was delicious! Thank you, Mario's, for all the years of great memories there! I don't live nearby unfortunately, so I don't know when I'll be able to get back. Here's my original post from October 2020 : Always go to Mario's when I visit my hometown Clifton to see my Mom. Best pizza anywhere! It's thin and so delicious, no one should ever have just 1 slice! Staff is outstanding in every way. Since there weren't seats available yesterday, we were treated to our own room in the back (we're a family of 4)! The second pic shows the unused table of the room where we were. That was a wonderful surprise for my Mom's birthday! The waiter made us feel like a part of their family. I wish I knew his name. Kudos to the Hostess for coming up with a solution within 2 minutes to seat us! The fountain wasn't working yesterday, (that's rare) but usually we order their Birch Beer: it's the best! Will see you next time for sure!

Last weekend i hosted my daughter's baby shower here and i was thoroughly impressed. The food was outstanding, the room was clean, they have a bonus area where they have all the food stations that prevents people from tripping over each other. It was updated with nice lighting and plenty of space, it was also very reasonably priced. In the picture i posted it shows the lighting, the room where the food was and that there is plenty of room there are over 50 people in attendance.

What a DIVE!!!!!the place has been there a long time but owner has zero clue how to run a restaurant. The hostess / cashier with glasses constantly makes errors and blames others. She will mess up your take out order and blame others. Also doesnt take accountability for giving wrong prices or telling you they are out of anything until you show up. Highly unprofessional and she has been there over 5 years that we have encountered her. Her English is so bad on the phones and we can never get any type of clear understanding from her. They had no pizza oven ????a pizzeria with no pizza oven ...it was broken and staff just laughs about it. The two female servers during the day Paulina and other girl with short dark hair are RUDE , HAVE BAD ATTITUDES, ARE MONEY HUNGRY AND GIVE HORRIBLE SERVICE EVERY TIME WE GO. They also talk badly about the guests and owner in Spanish and we understand fully. The owner let's them make drinks meanwhile they have ZERO clue about bartending/ cocktails/ spirits/ wine or beer. Drinks are HORRENDOUS with a hefty price tag. Also takes forever to get a drink and it usually not good. Whenever we tell them they laugh and ignore us. We never see a manager so its hard get to understand what good customer service is. These two girls barely speak ENGLISH and he thinks they can bartend also... COMICAL!!!They are there to make money at the cost of being rude and unaccomadating to the guests. They act like they own the place and make you feel like a burden. They just want a good tip for their disgusting service. We have a hard time getting refills or anything we need during our dining experience. They are seriously TOXIC and HORRIBLE workers. He hires these losers to work there and not one is good. We seriously never encountered one . We went cause it's close to work and sometimes it's hard to go too far from work for us due to limited time. Even if we order take out it's usually wrong and not packed properly and we get charged for things we didnt order. The parties are loud and take up the minimal parking spaces they have and no sense of urgency from staff especially when u inform them that it's your lunch hour. Place is OUTDATED, DARK OLD SMELLING & DIRTY. We decided to NEVER RETURN ! Gave them too many chances and yet they constantly drop the ball. It's a huge senior citizen location . You would probably see more BAD REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE but unfortunately the older generation doesnt really know how to use these platforms to express their horrible experiences. The placeis just not the same and is NOT good with this staff and owner. THESE TWO women sit down and eat while guests are waiting for their checks or simply getting service... it's unbelievable. Previous owners were great this new one is a clueless imbecile and the staff he hired is a reflection of this! DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT SERVICE BAD DRINKS OR FOOD . THEY WONT FIX IT. INSTEAD THEY FORCE YOU TO PAY FOR THINGS YOU DONT LIKE OR ATE. AND ITS LIKE THEY DONT CARE IF YOU DONT GO BACK. AND OWNER HAS NO CLUE THEY ARE DOING THIS DAILY or he JUST DOESNT...

Happy New to the marios staff and everyone that makes our visit as best as possible. I was very surprised last week when I came in with my whole family and found out that the one server Mark doesn’t work there anymore. My daughter and son were pretty upset when they heard the server say he wasn’t there anymore . We had our daughters 1st birthday party there and had her christening. Both times we had Mark as our server . We had the christening in the smaller room behind the bar on the Van Houten side because we didn’t have a lot of family come and some that never showed up. He told me he would package all the food that wasn’t eaten. Food was labeled and packaged all up easy to figure what was what. Later that year we had our sons communion and Mark did that as well. He was exceptional I don’t know how he was so good with all the kids because I can only imagine how much of a headache they gave him running around. But we just had our sons birthday party there and had two servers one girl was Nichole and one guy who had a negative attitude. Never saw him there before so he must be new but I was very disappointed. My family members asked for refills on their sodas and he acted like they were bothering him. I forgot to get his name but seemed like these two never did a party before because they were behind on everything. Said the kitchen wouldn’t give them more shrimp and said that was all the food they had made for us. We had about 70 to 80 people. But usually I don’t like to write reviews but my wife wanted me to let the owner know that whoever he has doing the parties now really seem to not know what they’re doing or maybe caught them on a bad day( we all have those days once in a while). But when we went to pay the lady up front also was very grumpy when asking if we could pay half cash half credit card. She said well I guess so . But anyway the food was amazing as always and usually have friendly service. I’m still going to come in for pizza but will have to see about having the kids party...

First time at this location and I had the worst experience ever. I came in on a very slow day and once sitting I waited 15 min until the host came and asked if I have been served. This then took another 5 minutes for the server to arrive. We told our server it was our first time there and was quickly ignored. No explanation of the menu no introduction no welcome guys nothing. Not once after we got our food we were checked on for refills completely ignored. I literally had to go to the car to grab a left over Snapple bc the water never arrived. The whole order was wrong I asked for a sandwich and got a whole steak which I didn’t want and charged for a full order of disco fries instead of an upgrade which then was informed the location doesn’t do. I was told the bread wasn’t available and I clearly told the server to just bring the meat they use with it without the bread and she offered a different kind but that seemed difficult to understand.Came in wanting to enjoy dinner and ended up with almost a 70 dollar bill for raviolis and a sandwich , coke float and 2 tap waters which we never got. I complained about the situation and the lack of clarity and was just told nothing could be done but 8 dollars off for inconvenience. A well known establishment with certain employees who just don’t care and leaving unsatisfied customer with no resolution. The server Emma never once came back to deal with her shortcomings. I don’t wish...
