Original Post: I frequent this local bar and have become disenchanted with it. The back room has an over abundance of flies. The draft beers taste flat, and the mixed drinks aren't mixed well. The service is usually understaffed, so during busy hours you'll be waiting to make an order for drinks or refills. The wings are literally the only reason to come here. Also, there are particular waitresses here that have made me feel unwelcomed time after time after time. Fran, who went on to manage another Sharky's, should come back and whip this fly filled place back into shape, because it has fallen apart ever since she has left. With that being said:
Pros: Wings & Sharky's fries, Happy Hour Prices ($1.5-$5 drinks, $.50 wings[$.40 org price])
Cons: Service, Draft Beers, Decor, and hygiene (the place is FILTHY and flies rule the back room)
Comments: I've been frequenting this bar for over 6 years and never once had an issue with the FOOD. SERVICE has suffered greatly. Also, there are drunks there I have always seen, but they have gotten out of hand ever since FRAN left. As for not feeling welcomed there, there is one waitress/bartender who has been working there over a year now who's behavior heavily suggests that she does not want me or people who look like me around. I have read other reviews (on Facebook) who have expressed the same concerns. This is an issue that should be addressed, but until then I'll add a subjective assessment of this bar:
Good wings, Outlandish drunks, and a racist waitress. That's Sharky's Clifton in a nutshell.
Update: Food is still delicious. When it gets busy there is a wait but you'll get your drink order taken while you wait. With that said, let me address the...
PROS/CONS: They have cleaned up the back room, which now has community seating, which is a welcomed change. I haven't tried all the taps but from what I had I can say the drinks were refreshing. As for the service, it was speedy and efficient. The waitress who usually told me to keep my hip-hop down or put the volume low whenever I played it, has toned down (for lack of a better phrase) her unwelcoming shenanigans - so we good.
I got to say, I enjoyed myself.
Covid-19 Update Edition: The spot is open for indoor seating. No seats at the bar. I go to pick up grub because the inside is windowless, and let's not kid ourselves, it's cramped when you have to social distance in this particular bar. Anyway, food is still legit - worth it! Now, now... I know what you're thinking. "What about that waitress?" Well, let me not dilly dally any longer, I must get started working from my kitchen, so I'll say this. The ex nay on the racism-ay has not only continued being toned down, it seems to have fully transformed into a friendly passive aggressive form of expression - and I'm fine with that type clever shade because it doesn't hurt anyone. Plus it's deliciously entertaining. There's...
Read morewent to dine in yesterday with my spouse as we are regular customers there. I had an issue with the funny looking lady named Dor C. That was the name displayed on our receipt, she had black hair and weird teeth. We went twice in a week so she knew exactly who we were. Last time we did not get ID’d to have alcohol, however this time we did which wasn’t a problem. I am 21 years old and my girlfriend is the same age and doesn’t drink , however i asked her to take a sip of my drink, which was suggested by me. Prior to this, when my ID was showed she knew what she was doing.. Just trying to be funny because she remembered me from last time. when my ID was given, her remark was “what year are we in again?” “you were born in 2002? you sure?” like obviously it says it on my ID, instantly i was rubbed the wrong way. She was waiting to say something to me and my girlfriend, i ordered two drinks. A long island first, and a tequila with pineapple and cranberry after. Once i ordered the second drink, the MINUTE i asked her to take a sip she came over like you can’t drink without ID, just waiting to start and have something to say with her ugly spirit. I told her do NOT address my girlfriend for anything since she assumed that she was underage, i told her to address ME because she knew exactly how old i was. She came to the table telling us how she’s not 21 and can’t drink. And how i’ve only been 21 a couple months & she would take drink away had i given my girlfriend some more. We drank the last time we went and my girlfriend didn’t even finish her drink, i finished it for her because she is not a big drinker. I just wanted her to taste it. However, the guy with the blonde hair and tattoos always saves the day! literally always his customer service is great, attentive, friendly, helpful, quick on his feet. Upon dining, I noticed the girl went to the guy with the blonde hair talking about me in a manner in which i knew was inappropriate. I will be reporting her to the better business bureau. I hate for people to act as if you owe them something when dining in a place they work. She must’ve forgotten we are all adults and it could’ve escalated further had i not been as mature as i was. They need to fire her, this is not is the first time she’s been rude to me, i’ve seen her be to others. People don’t even tip her as much as they tip the blonde guy because she rubs every one the wrong way. I have friends that are also regulars at sharkys. She needs to go seek employment elsewhere, and when she makes my drinks she tries to water down the alcohol .. I guess because “i just turned 21, or that im newly 21, i was born in feb 2002, this happened nov 2023, 2024 is among us, im about to be 22. and almost had 22 reasons to disrespect this lady in the illest manner i knew how, however we just left. didn’t tip , and we won’t be back until i get this...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a better rating, but my experience at the bar was truly awful. While the food was delicious and the atmosphere was fine, the abysmal bar service left a sour taste in my mouth.
First and foremost, the older blonde bartender's (Noelle???) attitude was nothing short of appalling. She was rude, dismissive, and carried herself with an air of arrogance that was uncalled for. It felt like she was doing us a favor by taking our orders (I'm sure she would've preferred to keep chatting w/ the male bartender), and this is not the kind of service I expect at a small, family-owned restaurant. YES, MA'AM I'M CALLING YOU OUT!
Not only was her demeanor unprofessional, but she also seemed to make a sport out of ignoring customers. It took ages to get her attention, and even then, she acted as if it was a massive inconvenience to serve us. It's shocking that someone like her is allowed to represent this establishment.
To make matters worse, her tone was demeaning. It's disheartening to be treated as if you're beneath someone simply because they stand behind the bar. The hospitality industry is built on customer service, and this bartender clearly missed that memo.
I find it deeply concerning that the owners of this restaurant continues to employ someone who is clearly detrimental to their reputation- Perhaps she puts on a happy face mask when they are there and presents herself in a more civilized manner instead of acting like a demonic creature. Good food alone cannot compensate for such terrible service, and in the long run, it's only going to harm this small business.
In summary, the bar service here was a huge letdown, and I hope the management takes steps to rectify this issue, for the sake of their loyal patrons and the future success of...
