We've lived in Westbrook for over 8 years and this has been our go to takeout place from day one. They don't disappoint. Their pizza is AMAZING. Thin crust perfection with an array of available toppings. Another favorite item we order are their calzones. Even the smaller size is huge and they are hands down the best calzones I've ever had. We almost always order for delivery and I have to mention this. All of the people who have delivered have been great. They are kind, personable and the food is always hot. There is one guy that I have to single out. I wish that I knew his name, but I don't. He delivered to us again last night and it's like answering the door to find an old friend standing there. Even better, an old friend with a mouth-watering pile of food. We are essential workers and couldn't go into lockdown last year. A lot of the people we bumped into that were out and about were edgy and surly. Not this guy. One night, after a particularly trying day, we ordered a pizza. When I answered the door I got the biggest smile I saw during pandemic lockdown. I knew that it was tense and scary to be out there because we had to be too. This guy never showed that. He's always smiling and friendly. After a day of angry people, many refusing to mask up around me, he just made my whole week. I'll always remember him as the happiest guy I saw during those ugly months. It's funny how far a simple moment like that can go toward lifting yourself up. We haven't tried the whole menu, but everything we have tried, from appetizers to salads to pizza and calzones has been superb. There's a reason these folks have been in business since the 50's. They're simply iconic. Order from them today. They made permanent customers out of us after that first visit. If you love good Italian food and appreciate great customer service, you'll become a permanent...
Read moreOn Jan 5, 2025 I ordered a few things, one of them being "Overstuffed" Ham Bread ( refer to photo ). The "Overstuffed", the "Bread" barely had any ham & cheese stuffing, was dry and tastless. Since then I have ordered a few pizzas with hit or miss results. Tonight I picked up a pizza. I ordered a medium-sized cheese pizza, with sausage, hot cherry peppers and double crust. I arrived home with the pizza and it was a complete disappointment. The pizza was dry, burnt and with no visible sausage and an abundance of juice from the hot cherry peppers ( refer to photos). I decided to post the review after several disappointing visits to Grand Apizza. This has been one of my favorite establishments for pizza on the shoreline. I try to exhibit patience when ordering take out hence the delayed review. Tonight's visit was almost 30$ and a waste of time and money. Not to mention a complete disappointment with my intended dinner. Needless to say I do not recommend this restaurant. This used to be a place that I enjoyed. I also always recommend and anytime a guest wanted pizza or a grinder this...
Read morethis last time i ordered, the food was noticeably old, soggy, and gross. i brought it back to have it remade, as it was clearly at least an hour under the heat lamp. at first the insisted the food was fine, then they tried it. they made a new batch after trying my food, and the new batch was delicious.
however, i am not reviewing the food. i am reviewing the service, which was not good. it made me feel embarrassed and like i was in the wrong, when i clearly was not. this was the very first time in my 30 years of living i actually returned food to a place, it was that bad and the place is very dirty. visible grease on the walls.
they tried to make me feel bad. on top of this, while i was waiting for the new food, i was reading the menu. both the to-go and dine-in menus have a price quite a bit lower than what i was charged. so the food sucked, they made me feel very uncomfortable, and they overcharged me. it was great food 10 years ago, but i will not be...
