Picantes Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Clinton

In town for a sporting event at the local college. My friend and I just wanted some guac, salsa, chips and a margarita. We saw they were rated a top mexican food place so we thought we'd give it a try. We started with margaritas I ordered mango and my friend got strawberry. I have never had a mango margarita arrive that was green. I tried it thinking maybe they brought me green apple by mistake.. nope not apple, not really any flavor I could detect other than alcohol so whatever, I'll drink it. My friend the. Looked up the ingredients for her strawberry margarita. Realized it's got red dye 40 and she's allergic, so we switch. Still can't taste the flavor. Ok I'll drink it. They did not skimp on the alcohol, that is the flavor we could taste.

She got a tostada and bean dip. and I got a chili rellano. We shared the guacamole.

The guacamole and chips and salsa were the best part of the meal. Highly recommend.

Our other food we felt was way too salty. I don't know if it's normally that way or if was just an off night. The bean dip was also doused in queso which my friend was not expecting as she's lactose intolerant.

I’ve eaten at this place many times and recently the service has been terrible! The lady at front argued with me about what I ordered when she got it wrong, then proceeded to argue with me about giving me chips for each of my separate orders. We had 4 orders in one and she tried to only give one bag of chips I asked for more chips which I’ve always done in the past and never have I ever been charged for tortilla chips. She wanted to get back at me by charging extra for the chips cause she was mad I told her she got my order wrong multiple times. When we spent over 70 dollars at the time. I have gone twice within one week. First visit was amazing. Tonight was horrendous. Server ignored the table the whole time. I had to get other servers to get things for our table. It was my daughter's birthday. I had to get another server to initiate the birthday song after our server was asked if they did anything, and she said she didn't know and walked off. My food was wrong. She argued whether beef was chicken. I just told her to take it back and off ticket. Did not eat a thing. Just chips and salsa. Not a single refill on a drink. Will not be back.
