Flavia's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Cloverdale

Fantastic food and great people. My brother and I ate dinner here on our way up to the redwoods. I got a fish burrito and he got the birria torta. Both were top-notch and absolutely worth coming back for alone.

When we went to leave, my truck didn't start and was sitting dead in the parking lot. They were super nice about it and said it wouldn't be a problem for us to wait there for a tow. A few hours later (like 10:30 on a Saturday night) the owner, Eva, happened to be stopping by and asked if we needed help. We told her what was going on and she offered to call a mechanic friend of hers to look at it. He managed to get it running and get us home. Saved us like $1500 in towing costs and didn't even let us pay them. Incredibly kind of them to help...

Chips and salsa come free and while the salsa initially tasted good, soon, my mouth, tongue and throat were on fire. Drinking cold water didn't even help. I never understood this need to have foods be so spicy. We don't like the sensation of our skin burning so why would we enjoy our mouth being on fire? I just don't get it. They should have different levels of spiciness to offer. I hate it when restaurants do that. I was disappointed in my fish taco because the fish had an unpleasant spice or taste to it and the sauce on top was too spicy again. I will be paying for this meal later, if you...

I eat a lot of Mexican food, and my go-to is usually a super burrito. I rarely have one that truly stands out. This was one of them. Awesome flavor, and the perfect mix of ingredients. They don't just add a ton of rice to make it look big. It had a generous amount of carne asada, and a perfect blend of other ingredients. Their salsa was flavorful and not wimpy, but not burn-your-face-off hot. I felt the prices were very fair for the quality and portions we received - and the service was friendly and attentive .
