Two stars only because of the nice lady that took the payment, and the friendliness of the butcher taking the order. The food was not worth $32 for two people. The price is average for BBQ in my opinion but the quality and portion size of the food we got was not. Their meat was flavorless, despite someone’s previous review. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich, which was not chopped, it was more cubed. I’ve eaten at several other Dickey’s Barbecue Pits and they’ve had actual chopped brisket so I’m not sure what happened there. My friend got the 2 meat plate with chicken breast & sliced brisket (that was actually cubed) with a side of fries, mac&cheese, and what was supposed to be Texas toast… however it was a brick of way over baked bread (yeast roll??). The french fries were supposed to be crispy according to the menu but they were soggy & cold. My husband took them back to the counter and asked for a fresh side of fries. He waited almost 10 mins for this (having to go up there two other times) all to get what we assume was the same bag of still soggy, more grease soaked and unsalted fries. He would have rather waited 3-4 minutes for fresh fries from when he first ordered than to have gotten a soggy bag of grease…. Twice. The brisket was not flavorful at all. It was over cooked and dry. The chicken had flavor, but texture and consistency was that of shoe leather. The order, pick up of food, payment, utensil, condiment and drink station is all in one small area. It is too congested right there. The place was not busy at all when we went, I’m afraid to see what it would look like if they were busy. The restaurant is of decent size so I’m not sure why that area is so small. I’m sure it has something to do with the (not yet working) slot machine and pool table area taking up 1/2 of the space in there. 😂 We were looking forward to having a decent place to eat in this town, only to be let down. Our first impression was a huge disappointment. We will not be back, we will highly recommend spending the money on gas and just driving to Lubbock or Amarillo, TX to get some better BBQ.

Read moreEvery 5 stat review is a lie or someone trying to be nice, I went in 30 minutes ago to try it out for the first time it wasn't a horribly crowded place and the lone wasn't to long so that was good, the menu was clear and easy to understand. Then I got to the front of the line...
I ordered a 3 meat plate with Ribs, sliced brisket and pull pork. And for sides I got green beans and mac and cheese.(see attachment)
Order: 1st thing I noticed was the small portion sizes, for everything....now for clarification, Dickies 3 meat plate is about the same price as Rib Cribs 4 meat plate but has about as much meat as Rib cribs 2 meat and the sides were awfully small as well...ok as long as the barbecues taste makes up for it, but we will get to that later...
Service: Dickies Service is on par with your average Mcdonalds honestly, the new guy did make an honest effort for his first day, 👏🏾👍🏾props to him. The guy that took over was professional and competent(although I think he shorted me on the sliced brisket, I think he was generous with the pull pork) The cashier, she was friendly enough, thats all really...average Service
The Food: So was the food Worth what I payed for it? Nooooo, in the order I tried everything... Green beans: Actually this was one of the two food items I dont have a complaint about Mac and cheese:THEY GAVE IT TO ME COLD!!! not that hot would've helped the flavorless cup, I actually lost faith here... Pull pork: The other item i had no complaint about, but thats not saying much Brisket: it was tough.. Ribs:...the ribs, mostly bone, and taste like banquet TV dinner ribs......
Verdict: It's not the worst, I will give it a second chance after some time, but as it stands now, if you want BBQ in clovis NM go to Rib crib, or pray That fatboys comes back, even better go to mama...
Read moreI ordered an XL pack which is supposed to feed between 6-8 people. I will say at first looking at the amounts I wasn't sure it if would, but it definitely fed my family of 6 with some leftovers.
The sliced brisket is super smokey in flavor & tender. I dipped it in their Spicy BBQ sauce and let me tell you... Perfect combination of smokiness. The BBQ sauce has this wonderful vinegar tanginess with a nice kick of heat. Polish sausage has an immense amount of pepper within the sausage and has such a great flavor. Their pulled pork is tender and overall cooked beautifully.
We also got their BBQ beans which I was expecting them to be more savory but I was surprised when I took a bite and it was slightly sweet. My kids loved their Mac and cheese which is very similar to KFC's. I'm partial to fried okra and it HIT THE SPOT.
When picking up the order they were definitely efficient in moving the line along to help customers fairly quick. We both (restaurant and myself) forgot about the toast that was supposed to come with my meal but let's be honest... I didn't miss it. The brisket is definitely the star of the show. Everything was absolutely delicious in my opinion (& my familys') and the staff was friendly and the rustic vibes were great. Be sure to check out their lighting fixtures in their...
