Papa Dogz — Restaurant in Clute

My son suggested we try this place and he was absolutely correct.

I got the avocado bacon burger and added mushrooms, and my husband got the mexi-dog, which had Pico and queso blanco.

Both were phenomenal.

My burger was well seasoned, juicy without being soggy, and frankly one of the best burgers I've ever had. They bake their buns in house, and that is absolutely clear. The onions and mushrooms were perfectly sautéed, and not too salty.

The hotdog was dense but not heavy, clearly high quality meat. I tried a piece of just the hotdog itself and you can tell they smoke them. So good.

Their fries are crispy, well seasoned, and the perfect ratio of potato to crisp.

I'm autistic and am very picky about my food- it was perfect, and delicious.

Their horchata is also perfect- creamy and flavorful without any gritty texture or being too thick. It was so good I went back and paid for a refill.

Aaron was the person we spoke with while ordering and eating, and he explained some of their standards- the smoking of the dogs, the high quality ingredients, and the in-house buns- all of which I could tell, but was excited to have confirmed.

He was genuinely friendly and kind- all of the employees seemed to be happy to be there, and that comes out in the quality.

I travel for work so I try to check out local restaurants to help the local community while I am visiting. At places like this I will ask what is their most popular item is and usually have a good experience, the person taking my order recommended the dirty something rather, their version of a patty melt and the pineapple mango lemonade. We sat down and I tasted the lemonade, it was very good and refreshing. Our food came and it all looked great, but upon tasting the food it was very bland, the meat had seasoning in only one small spot and none on the rest of the patty, the oil in the fryer needed to be changed out because the fries had a very off putting smell and a bitter aftertaste. We finished our food and drinks and we attempted to get a refill, now I understand when getting a refill on a lemonade or fresh made beverage you will pay extra, when the person behind the counter told me it was $4.50 for a refill I couldn't believe what I heard, it was $3 originally but refills were even more expensive! I do not understand why this place had a 4.7 review when I tried it but I will not be returning to this establishment in the future and don't recommend...

Sweet baby Jesus! The hotdog was huge! I wasn’t expecting that at all I literally assumed I was ordering a regular sized but that was awesome. My husband killed the burger before I was done. He loved burger. Atmospheres very cool. I literally never knew about this place. My husband took me and I wasn’t disappointed. I will say that and I will definitely be back to take the kids. Reason for four stars is because when I went to the bathroom, there was no toilet paper. I kindly told one of the workers. And later the worker brought my food and told me he had put the toilet paper in there, and then asked me if I had put any napkins in the toilet because that were damaged their plumbing as he’s serving my food…..Mind you there’s a big sign in bathroom that reads “please don’t flush napkins”. I wanted to tell him I can read. Didn’t wanna lose my appetite, so I responded kindly I did not flush napkins. I forgot to mention that this was totally awesome that you have three options: to get onion rings or fries. Or half-and-half! So of course I got onion...
