Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Clute

I will never give my business to Sonic again. I'm not sure if this is a local policy or if this is a national policy but rounding the change up to the nearest dollar without permission is theft.

Saturday, December 18th 2021, I pulled into this location to purchase my son and I a pretzel twist. The total came to $4.31. I gave the girl $10.31. My change back was $6. She handed me a $5 bill and proceeded to walk away. I called her back and informed her that she had shorted me a dollar. She then proceeded to tell me that she had been told to round the change up to the next dollar. I told her that I had given her exact change and so she didn't need to round anything up. She informed me that she still had to round it up to the next dollar. I told her that that was not accurate because I'd given her exact change. She informed me again that she had to round up to the next dollar. So I told her that she was ripping me off for a dollar. She repeated the same line again. At this point I was becoming angry. I asked if she was telling me she didn't have a dollar in her change bag. She repeated the same line, again. So then I ask her where her manager was. She rolled her eyes, huffed and walked away. She came back a few minutes later with my dollar and my receipt. The reality is that not giving my change is theft.

Went to sonic today like I’ve done hundreds of times before and order a medium chili cheese tot. Received what you see in the picture and thought there was hardly any chili and cheese compared to all of the other times I’ve order this exact same thing. I asked the carhop “hey girl is it suppose to look like this? I feel like there’s hardly anything on them” because I really didn’t want to make a huge fuse and she told me with a smile “I can go remake them for you” I thanked her and apologized for sending it back. A couple minutes later the girl and the manager walk out to my car. The manager proceeded to tell me that my order was correct and the cooks are only suppose to put 2oz of chili and cheese on there and that’s exactly how much was on there. Also told me if I wanted extra then to ask for extra, but that would add $3. While he was nice it seemed kinda passive aggressive. I thought this was so odd because I was very polite, and did not want to make a big deal out of it. The manager coming out with the carhop being passive aggressive made me feel like I did something wrong. I worked in fast food for 5 years so I’m always very understanding cause I get it. Food was ok, I ordered 2 breakfast burritos. When the kid brought me my food he asked if I needed anything else, I looked in the bag and asked if I could get some salsa, he looked confused asked what is that, I told him not sauce and he said he did not think they had that I told him I got some a few nights earlier. He said he would be back. He went inside and stood there a few minutes talking to coworkers, when he came back out and said they had some but he would have to charge me $0.34 cents for each packet. I told him that was ridiculous and it would have nice if they asked me about this when I placed my order in not so nice word!!!!
