This place has potential. My cousin and I went for lunch at 11:30AM on a Thursday. We were the only two diners there for about 45 min.
First, the service: There’s lots of room for improvement. We ordered spicy buffalo wings and were served the whiskey barbecue wings instead. We asked for ranch dressing and had to wait a while for “homemade” ranch dressing that tasted like Hidden Valley when it came out. Aside from that, in my opinion, this place is small enough for the server to take orders at the table, especially when it’s slow; but you have to order inside at the bar and there’s no real indication anywhere that tells you where to go to order inside. We just kind of guessed it was at the back of the restaurant since there was no one up towards the front of the house. For the price, table service or at least attentive, friendly service are warranted. I just got the feeling we were an inconvenience to the server more than anything else.
Next, the food: Delicious food, and the cook offered great service! He came out of the kitchen to check to see how our food was, asked if we needed a water refill, got us condiments, etc. The honey bbq wings were good, and the burgers were moist and savory. We ordered regular french fries and they were decent. The only qualm I have is that everything is a la carte, e.g., regular fries aren’t included with the meal. I can understand an upcharge for the loaded fries and the other “special” fries they offer. But regular fries included with the burger for a little higher price of the burger would be more palatable.
Lastly, the atmosphere: It’s a really cool concept - a restaurant housed in an old firehouse. The interior design/aesthetic is modern, clean, and inviting, too. Sitting on the patio gives you a unique outdoor experience where you can observe the life on Sixth Street while you eat. It’s really quaint. The only downside is that the music played outdoors on the patio was too loud.
I’d go back again but only after giving this place a little more time to work...
Read moreToday was the WORST SERVICE I ever received from this place. The order was taken and I mentioned it twice to the waitress but eventually she was not paying attention. I ordered a double cheese burger with lettuce and tomato and RAW onions repeating this order TWICE and yet they still got it wrong. Another waitress came and I ordered it again and she said" how about i get them to bring you some raw onions I SAID NO i want a fresh burger after waiting 30 minutes for the order. Time went by and still no burger so I just told them to CANCEL and paid for my wife's plate. NEVER AGAIN will I enter this establishment. The waitress asked me do you still want the burger because they are making it I said nope they are taking forever so just cancel. She then received my payment for my wife's breakfast and threw the receipt on the counter. I still wonder who makes this decision to HIRE Individuals that DONT GIVE A HOOT about the business, but then again first impression is the last impression. Read moreWe dropped by the Coachella Firehouse for lunch after spotting it on a recent visit to 6th Street Coffee. The Firehouse is a great location, has a fun design and terrific front patio. Sitting here for lunch it’s hard to remember this is January.
The staff at Firehouse were really welcoming and got us set up quickly. The menu is simple offering some appetizers, sandwiches and burgers. I think this is smart - be good at a few things rather than over-extend too quickly. We had two different burgers (Calle 6 - onion strings and jalapeños - amazing) and a pulled pork sandwich with some minor alterations requested. Everything was excellent, well-flavored and nicely presented. I have to mention that the house made crisps and French fries were exceptionally good… maybe weird to mention but they tasted like potato and I’ve just had so many bad fries recently (talking to you In N Out).
It’s great to see a new business in Coachella and the Firehouse deserves to be successful....
